Schwartz Flushes Penn

Ylon Schwartz
Ylon Schwartz
Hold'em

Ylon Schwartz is our new chip leader and recently added to his blossoming stacks with the elimination of Phillip Penn.

Penn raised from middle position before Schwartz popped it from the small blind. Penn re-raised and was all in with Schwartz making the call.

Penn: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}
Schwartz: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

It was a likely chop scenario, but the board ran out {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} to make Schwartz a flush and eliminate Penn from the tournament. Schwartz has a mountain of chips in front of him that would be close to 90,000.

Leonidas Aggression Pays Dividends

Omaha-8

Toto Leonidas plays such an aggressive game that you just never know what he's got. In this particular hand, he had the goods as he scooped a healthy pot during a hand of Omaha-8. Leonidas fired the whole way on a board of {6-Spades}{A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and was called down to reveal {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{K-Hearts} to take it down. He's up to 72,000 chips.

Croc Loses Bite

Razz

Billy "The Croc" Argyros has been eliminated from today's H.O.R.S.E event after another Razz hand went against him.

Croc was in control of the betting before his opponent Asher Derei led on sixth street and Croc raised leaving himself only 500 behind. Derei called and the last chips were in on the river.

Croc showed down ({A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}) {4-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades} ({8-Hearts}) for a seven-six-low made by sixth street however Croc was visibly upset to see Derei had caught good with his ({A-Spades}{5-Spades}) {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} ({7-Diamonds}).

"Razz has been very good to me today..." sighed Croc before exiting the Brasilia Room.

Lunkin Chops With Sugar Bear

Omaha-8

Omaha-8 is a tough game and it's a game where you try your best to scoop pots. Most of the time though, pots will be chopped as this one was.

The flop came down {K-Spades} {6-Spades} {4-Clubs} between one of the big stacks, Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri, and one of the shorter stacks, Vitaly Lunkin. Barbieri bet out and was called by the Russian. The turn was the {2-Spades} and Barbieri checked. Lunkin fired a missile and Barbieri called.

The river paired the pair with the {2-Diamonds} and Barbieri check-called another bet from Lunkin. Lunkin tabled {A-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {4-Hearts} for the low half of the pot. Barbieri scooped the high with a flush, showing {J-Spades} {10-Spades} {8-Spades} {6-Diamonds}. As happens so often in split games, the pot was chopped.

Mike Watson, during Event #2
Mike Watson, during Event #2
Stud-8

Mike Watson is progressing well today and just added a few more chips to his stack in a recent Stud-8 hand despite it being chopped.

Watson led the betting against two opponents before the river was check-raised, causing the player stuck in the middle to fold.

Watson: ({4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}) {A-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Opponent: ({Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{K-Clubs}) {Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Watson and his opponent seemed content enough to chop up the third player's chips as Watson moves up to around 65,000 chips.

Ferguson now yields a much larger stack thanks to a nice flush
Stud

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson just scooped a massive pot during the latest round of stud on his table. His two opponents in the hand were Jeff Madsen and Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri. Here's how the boards looked.

Ferguson: (X-X) {10-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {5-Spades} {K-Diamonds} (X)
Madsen: (X-X) {J-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} (X)
Barbieri: (X-X) {3-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {5-Hearts} (X)

Barbieri led the betting on fourth after Madsen checked. Ferguson called and then Madsen called as well. On fifth and sixth street, the same action occurred. On seventh, Madsen first checked, then Barbieri checked behind. Ferguson fired a bet and both players called.

Ferguson showed three hearts in the hole with the {8-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Hearts} and both his opponents mucked after not being able to best Ferguson's flush.

Ferguson - 82,000
Barbieri - 70,000
Medsen - 25,000
