Stokes vs. Chan; Jamin Stokes Takes a Nice Pot

Jamin Stokes
Jamin Stokes
From the button, Johnny Chan raised to 30,000 and Jamin Stokes called. The flop came {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and both players checked.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Stokes lead out for 35,000. Chan immediatly reraised to 105,000 and Stokes made the call.

The river brought the {5-Clubs} and Stokes lead out for 150,000. Chan tanked for several minutes before eventually mucking his cards.

Stokes - 1,000,000
Chan - 920,000

Duthie vs. O'Dwyer: This One's Over Too

John Duthie is moving on
John Duthie is moving on
Steve O'Dwyer raised to 38,000 from the button, and John Duthie made the call from the big blind.

The flop came out {6-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}. Duthie led out into the raiser with a bet of 65,000. With little delay, O'Dwyer raised it up to 150,000 straight. Duthie re-checked his cards before making the call.

Fourth street came the {2-Spades}. Duthie checked it over, and O'Dwyer acted quickly once again. He slid out nearly his whole castle of chips (~425,000), leaving just his low-denomination yellow chips in front of him. Duthie announced, "All in," and O'Dwyer shrugged his shoulders and moved his last 26,000 chips into the middle.

Showdown
Duthie: {3-Clubs} {4-Hearts}
O'Dwyer: {8-Spades} {10-Spades}

Duthie had turned the stone cold nuts, but O'Dwyer was live with his flush draw. The river was a black card; the {6-Clubs} was of no help to the all-in player.

After a long battle of staredowns and showdowns, John Duthie has emerged victorious. Steve O'Dwyer will pocket more than $90,000, but he too seems disappointed by his exit in the Round of 8.

Johnny Chan Pulls Off a Big Bluff

On a board of {K-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {4-Spades}, Johnny Chan bet 200,000 into a pot of 400,000. Jamin Stokes tanked for several minutes, looking very frustrated. Finally, he forcefully tossed his cards into the muck.

Chan proudly picked up his two card to show Stokes:

{9-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}

Chan vs. Stokes; Stokes Flops a Straight

On a board of {9-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {7-Spades} Jamin Stokes bet 40,000 from the button and Johnny Chan check raised to 100,000. Stokes called.

The river brought the {10-Clubs} and both players checked it down. Stokes showed {5-Hearts} {6-Hearts} for a straight and took down the pot.

Stokes is now at 1,220,000.

Wolpert vs. Woolf: Dustin Never Wins

Leo Wolpert - Advances
Leo Wolpert - Advances
Dustin Woolf raised to 35,000 from the button. Leo Wolpert grabbed a big stack of covering chips and slid a tower of pink ones into the middle of the table. Woolf didn't look too happy about it, but he called off his last ~300,000 chips to put himself at risk.

Showdown
Woolf: {6-Diamonds} {6-Clubs}
Wolpert: {7-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}

Woolf was disgusted with the bad news, walking away from the table and off the set entirely. The news would get better though. The flop came down {6-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {5-Hearts}, and the floorman had to tell Dustin that he had found one of the two remaining sixes. Woolf made his way back to the table just in time to see the dangerous {8-Diamonds} hit the turn, giving Wolpert a straight draw on both ends.

Sure enough, the {4-Clubs} spiked the river to give Wolpert the re-suckout straight and eliminate Dustin "Neverwin" Woolf.

Woolf put up an admirable fight here against Wolpert, having the short stack for the duration of the battle. In the end, he would fall though, and Leo Wolpert is headed on to the Final Four.
