Stokes vs. Wolpert: Trading Stacks

Jamin Stokes now leads his match
Jamin Stokes now leads his match
Jamin Stokes raised to 40,000 to open the pot, and Leo Wolpert three-bet it up to about 130,000. Stokes flat-called.

The flop came {4-Spades} {8-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}. Wolpert led out with what appeared to be 164,000, and Stokes wasted little time calling.

Fourth street brought the {7-Clubs}. Wolpert slowed down now with a check, and Stokes obliged him with a bet of 225,000. Wolpert thought a bit longer this time, but not much; he called.

The river came the {4-Hearts}. Wolpert checked again, and Stokes fingered his chips. After stacking out 550,000 and thinking about it, he instead opted to move all in for a lucky total of 777,000. Wolpert asked for a count and then made the call to put his opponent to the test.

Stokes was up to the challenge, tabling {K-Hearts} {K-Clubs} for kings up. Wolpert knocked the table and pushed his cards toward the muck. Stokes asked to see them, and the dealer turned over {J-Spades} {8-Spades}. Stokes takes down the biggest pot of the tournament so far, doubling up to a commanding chip lead.

Stokes - 2,650,000
Wolpert - 1,190,000
