Annie Duke Eliminated

It seems that just twenty minutes ago, Annie Duke was on a stack of 25,000, average for this stage of the tournament. Now she's out. We're not sure what happened; one player at her table said she lots three big pots in rapid succession. When the average stack is only 14 big bets, that's all it takes to be eliminated.

Micon Getting People All Riled Up

Razz:

Micon: x-x / {A-Clubs} {5-Spades}
Opponent: x-x / {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}
Opponent: x-x / {7-Hearts} {K-Hearts}

Bryan Micon is known for having the ability get under his opponents' skin. He's at it again at Table 186.

After completing his ace on third street and being called in two spots, Micon caught the best board on fourth street. One of his opponents was at the opposite end of the table and Micon couldn't see what card that opponent had caught. When the dealer gave Micon first action, he seemed surprised.

"Oh, is that a pair?" he asked, pointing at his opponent's deuces. "Great. In that case, I bet."

These two little statements sent the player with the pair of deuces into a tizzy.

"You're so lucky," he started berating Micon. "I had the best hand. You keep raising so much and you're so lucky. 'Is that a pair?'" he added sarcastically. "Quack, quack, quack. I bet you $100 I had the best hand."

Micon collected the pot and said that he believed his opponent but did not open his hand.

Gaspard Loses to a Flush

Prince in the building
Prince in the building
Omaha Hi/Lo:

Jean "Prince" Gaspard check-called a bet from Dave Schneyer on a flop of {A-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {4-Hearts}. The turn brought the {A-Hearts}, which paired the board and also brought a flush possibility. Gaspard checked and Schneyer bet again. Gaspard called.

The river was the {K-Clubs} and both players quickly checked. Schneyer showed {A-Diamonds} {7-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {2-Spades} for a heart flush. Gaspard mucked his hand.

Van Alstyne and Singer Chop One Up

It's James Van Alstyne, that's who
It's James Van Alstyne, that's who
Omaha Hi/Lo:

With the flop laid out {A-Clubs} {10-Spades} {3-Hearts}, two players checked to James Van Alstyne. He bet out and then David Singer popped in a raise. The other two players folded and Van Alstyne made the call.

The turn brought the {6-Hearts} to the board. Van Alstyne check-called a bet from Singer. The river was the {5-Clubs} and again, Van Alstyne check-called a bet from Singer.

Van Alstyne revealed {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {7-Clubs} and Singer showed {A-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {2-Hearts}. Singer's live deuce gathered him the low pot, while Van Alstyne rivered a better two pair for the high.

Gaspard Starts Climbing Again

Razz:

Despite losing a recent hand, Gaspard has been quietly playing excellent poker against the rest of his table to raise his current count to about 50,000. In a recent hand of razz, Gaspard completed the {A-Clubs} and was called by Sebastien Sabic with the {4-Diamonds}. Each player caught good on fourth street, with Gaspard betting the {3-Hearts} and Sabic calling with the {2-Diamonds}. Gaspard caught good again on fifth, the {2-Hearts} against Sabic's {q-Clubs}, and took down the pot with a single bet.

New Life for Friedman

Perry Friedman
Perry Friedman
When we last checked in with Perry Friedman, he was barely hanging on at around 10,000 in chips. His table just broke, and when Friedman un-racked his chips at his new table, he counted down a stack of 28,800.

Reslock's Two Pair is Good

Omaha Hi/Lo:

There was some unknown action both preflop and on the flop between Archie Karas and Chris Reslock. The board read {J-Hearts} {8-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} on the turn and Karas checked to Reslock. Reslock fired a bet and Karas called. The river brought the {4-Clubs} and both players checked.

Reslock showed {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} for two pair, jacks and fours, with an ace kicker. Karas mucked and Reslock raked in the pot.

More Chips for Black

It seems like Andy Black keeps dragging pots, but his count hasn't changed much today. We currently have him on about 50,000 chips after a recent elimination in the stud round. Black's board showed {A-Spades} {6-Hearts} / {A-Clubs} {J-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {J-Spades} / {4-Diamonds} for aces and jacks. We didn't get the all-in player's board; the cards came out so fast (and he mucked them just as quickly) that we couldn't get what he had. Whatever it was, it didn't beat aces up.

Elizabeth Getting Some Life Back

Stud Hi/Lo:

John Racener: (X-X) {5-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} (X)
Shannon Elizabeth: (X-X) {7-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} {3-Spades} (X)

Racener led with bets on fourth and fifth street with Elizabeth calling down. On sixth and seventh, the action was checked by both players.

Racener rolled over {Q-?} {9-?} {9-?} in the hole for two pair, but Elizabeth showed {K-?} {8-?} {7-?} for a better two pair with kings and sevens to add some much needed chips to her stack.
