Whinny and Neigh, It's Another Dose of H.O.R.S.E.

Kurtzman was not the chip leader, but he was close.

Welcome back, H.O.R.S.E. fans, for Day 2 of Event 31 at the 2009 World Series of Poker, $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. An impressive 770 players bought into this tournament yesterday to prove their mettle in one of poker's most grueling tests, the five-game mixed games event. By the end of the day, that number had been reduced via eliminations to roughly 225.

When the chips were all bagged and tagged last night, our two presumptive chip leaders -- Andy Black and Eric Kurtzman -- were in fifth and second places respectively, separated by just two big bets. The overnight chip leader turned out to be Sabic Sebastien, stacked at 72,700. He's followed in order by Kurtzman, Jim Silveira, Marco "Hey Look!" Traniello and Black.

The original plan today was to play down to the final table, but with so many players remaining in the field there's no way that's going to happen. The over/under for the number we'll have left when 3am hits is 36.5, which will set this tournament up for a very, very long Day 3 tomorrow.

Play is underway at 2pm local time, in about eighty minutes.
