Over in the Miranda room, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Paul Wasicka have been moved to the same table, where the two of them are taking turns claiming just about every pot. One can assume the others sitting at their table are eager for that table break to happen sooner than later.
Both have stacks of more than 20,000 at the moment.
David Singer raised to 900 from under the gun and got two callers behind, including Jeff Madsen. The flop came . Singer bet 2,400, and only Madsen called. The turn was the , and when Singer pushed all in for about 8,000, Madsen got out.
Singer has about 17,500 now, while Madsen drops to 4,800.
It folded to Paul Wasicka who opened from late position with a preflop raise to 825, and the big blind called, putting himself all in. The BB turned over 8-3, and was probably glad to see Wasicka's .
If he was glad, it wasn't for long, though, as the board ran out 6-A-5-2-10. Wasicka had made a straight, eliminating his opponent.
Wasicka is up to 27,000 now. There are 790 players left.
A player in middle position raised to 300, the player to his left reraised to 950, and Scott Montgomery, fifth-place finisher in last year's WSOP Main Event, called from the cutoff. It folded back to the original raiser who called as well.
The flop came . It checked to Montgomery, who thought for ten seconds before tapping the table as well. The turn was the , and the first player to act fired out 2,000, causing both of his opponents to fold.
With about 2,000 in the middle and the flop having come , a player in the hijack seat bet 1,550, and Humberto Brenes quickly called from the button. The turn was the . This time the first player to act bet 3,550, and again Brenes quickly called.
The river was the , and both players checked. Brenes' opponent turned over for kings, and Brenes mucked. The Shark has about 7,500 as we near the dinner break.
