Big Stacks Collide; Atchison Crippled

Joe Morneau
Joe Morneau
Everyone seemed a little surprised to see the two biggest stacks on the table collide this early. Pat Atchison raised to 100,000 from the big blind and Joe Morneau reraised to 265,000 from the small blind.

When Atchison three bet to 765,000, Morneau moved in for an additional 1,325,000. Atchison made the call.

Morneau: {J-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Atchison: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

Both players connected when the flop fell {J-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, but their relative positions didn't change. The {4-Spades} on the turn also changed nothing, but the {J-Diamonds} on the turn stunned the table and handed the massive pot to Morneau, who uttered, "Oh my God, destiny," as he scooped up the chips.

The hand left Atchison with just 390,000 while Morneau climbed to nearly 4.5 million.
