"How old are you?" called Lyle Berman across the room to Scotty Nguyen.
"46," said Nguyen.
"And what about you, Jeff?" asked Berman of Lisandro. He mouthed what looked like "43."
"Wouldn't it be crazy if the whole final table was forty-plus?" Berman wondered aloud.
It may be a stud cliche, but our twelve remaining players certainly have an...elevated... median age than most of the final tables we've seen this year.
Mike Wattel arrived a few minutes late to the start today and lost some chips from the blinds and antes. He just found himself all in on fifth street against Anthony Rivera. Rivera had four to a low and Wattel had two pair. On sixth street, Wattel filled up, but Rivera was able to complete his low on seventh and rake in half of the pot.
On fourth and fifth street, Abe Mosseri bet and both players called. On sixth, Mosseri checked to Smith. He fired a bet and was all in for 25,000 total. Friedman called and then Mosseri raised. Friedman called that as well. On seventh, both Mosseri and Friedman checked.
Friedman announced an eight low and a pair of deuces, rolling over . Mosseri showed a pair of queens with . Smith rolled over for a straight and a seven low to scoop the entire main pot.
Mosseri - 850,000
Friedman - 300,000
Smith - 270,000
Doyle Brunson (X)(X)
Mike Wattel (X)(X)
Lyle Berman (X)(X)
Doyle Brunson had the bring-in, Mike Wattel completed, Lyle Berman called and Brunson called as well. Wattel made the high board on fourth street and led out, both Berman and Brunson coming along. On fifth, Berman made an open pair of fives, but Wattel started to bet out before Berman could act. He took his bet back, Berman bet, Brunson folded, and Wattel raised. Looking just sick about it, Berman mucked his cards, Wattel taking down the sizeable pot. After starting as the short stack, he's now up to 325,000 while Berman is down to 152,000.
Lyle Berman (X)(X) (X)
Anthony Rivera (X)(X) (X)
Yan Chen (X)(X)
Anthony Rivera completed on third street, Yan Chen called, and Lyle Berman raised. Both players called. River led out on fourth, Chen mucking his hand and Berman making the call. On fifth and sixth Rivera led and Berman called. Rivera bet seventh street, elicting a frown from a clearly frustrated Berman. He folded and Rivera took down the pot, leaving Berman with only 60,000.
Berman succumbed on the next hand and exited in 12th place.
Just as Lyle Berman was being eliminated, a large three-way pot was underway on Table 154. Jeff Lisandro checked seventh street, Scotty Nguyen bet, Abe Mosseri called, Lisandro raised, and both Nguyen and Mosseri called the additional bet.
Lisandro showed for sevens full of nines while Nguyen revealed for an 8-6 low. Mosseri mucked while Lisandro and Nguyen split the pot.
