A Small One for Hennigan

Pot-Limit Omaha

A player in middle position opened with a raise to 250, and three players called, including Sorel Mizzi (middle position), Matt Hawrilenko (button), and "Johnny World" Hennigan (big blind). The flop came {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and when Hennigan led with a bet of 800, all of the others folded.

None of those three are on top of the world at the moment, as Hennigan has 5,000, Hawrilenko 4,000, and Mizzi has slipped further down to 2,900.

King Cassidy

Pot-Limit Omaha

We came upon this one on the river, with the board showing {8-Clubs}{10-Spades}{K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. The chips were being shipped to Joe Cassidy, who was showing {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for quads, and James Van Alstyne was mucking what had to have been a nice hand before that river.

Cassidy moved up to 16,500 on the strength of that hand, while Van Alstyne fell to 4,800.

We're Back

Cards are back in the air. Tables are picking back up with whatever games they were playing at the conclusion of the previous level. It looks like most are playing no-limit hold'em or pot-limit Omaha here at the start of Level 5, though a few started the cycle again and are playing either 2-7 triple draw or limit hold'em.

Turner Gets a Break, Doesn't Have to Break

2-7 Triple Draw

Adam Junglen called from middle position, and it folded back to Jon Turner who raised from the big blind. Junglen called. Both players drew one card, then Turner bet and Junglen called.

Turner stood pat on the second draw, while Junglen took one card. When Turner bet, Junglen let it go.

"I was actually prepared to break," said Turner afterward, referring to the fact that he wouldn't have stood pat on the third draw had Junglen stuck around.

Turner has 16,500 now, while Junglen is sitting at 19,000.

"I Could Have a Pair of Eights"

2-7 Triple Draw

After a player opened with a raise and Jason Mercier three-bet, Rich Sklar called the three bets from the blinds, as did the original raiser. Sklar then drew three cards, the original raiser took two cards, and Mercier just one. Sklar bet, the original raiser folded, Mercier raised, and Sklar called.

Both players drew one card on the second round, and Sklar check-called Mercier's bet. Both again drew one card on the final round. This time Sklar bet blind (i.e., without looking at the card he drew), and when Mercier raised, Sklar looked to see he had a pair of deuces.

Noting that he'd paired his deuce, Sklar started to muck, then Mercier stopped him. "Hey, I could have a pair of eights," said Mercier. Sklar made the call, and Mercier showed {8-?}{5-?}{4-?}{3-?}{2-?} and took the pot.

Mercier has 10,500 now, while Sklar has 12,500.
