A Friendly Turn for Mueller

Greg Mueller
Greg Mueller
Marc Naalden raised from the button, Mueller three-bet, and Naalden called. The flop came {4-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Mueller bet, and Naalden called. The turn was the {6-Hearts}. Mueller checked, and Naalden thought a beat before checking behind.

The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, Mueller bet, and Naalden made the call. Mueller showed {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} -- he'd turned a set -- and Naalden mucked.

Mueller back up to 2 million now, with Naalden at 1.6 million.

Going for Two

One Bracelet Not Enough for Mueller and Naalden
One Bracelet Not Enough for Mueller and Naalden
Marc Naalden back in front now, 1.9 million to Mueller's 1.7 million.

As we mentioned earlier, both of these players are gunning for their second WSOP bracelets of the summer. In fact, both won their earlier bracelets in limit hold'em events: Mueller in Event No. 33 ($10,000 World Championship Limit Hold'em), and Naalden in Event No. 38 ($2,000 Limit Hold'em).

One for Mueller

Following that wild, half-dozen-hand barrage in which Naalden came racing back to even the match, play has settled down a bit with a few (relatively) smaller pots.

Just now the flop came {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}, Greg Mueller checked, Marc Naalden bet, Mueller raised, and Naalden called. The turn was the {J-Clubs}. Mueller bet, and Naalden called.

The river was the {9-Spades}, and both checked. Mueller showed {K-Spades}{10-Spades} for trip tens, and Naalden mucked.

Mueller back in front with a little under 2 million to Naalden's 1.65 million.

All Even

After taking a third sizable pot, Marc Naalden has already pulled even with Greg Mueller. Both players have around 1.8 million now.

The Comeback Is On

Marc Naalden raised from the small blind/button, and Mueller called. The flop came {3-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Mueller checked, Naalden bet, Mueller check-raised, Naalden three-bet, and Mueller called.

Mueller also check-called Naalden's bets on the turn -- {K-Hearts} -- and river {3-Spades}. Naalden turned over {A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for the flopped flush, and Mueller showed {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}.

Naalden has quickly moved up to 1.35 million to Mueller's 2.25 million.

Good Start for Naalden

After a flop of {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs}, Greg Mueller checked, Marc Naalden bet, Mueller check-raised, and Naalden called.

The turn was the {7-Spades}. Mueller bet, Naalden raised, Mueller three-bet, and Naalden called.

The river was the {9-Spades}. Mueller checked, Naalden bet, and Mueller called. Naalden showed {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and Mueller {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}. A bit pot here at the beginning of heads-up play -- over half a million!

Naalden now has 975,000, and Mueller 2.625 million.

Millie Shiu Eliminated in 3rd Place ($77,138)

Millie Shiu - 3rd Place
Millie Shiu - 3rd Place
Millie Shui was already all in from the big blind, Greg Mueller called from the button, and Marc Naalden also called from the small blind.

The flop came {5-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Naalden checked, Mueller bet, and Naalden folded.

Shiu {4-Spades}{2-Clubs}
Mueller {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}

The turn was the {K-Hearts} and the river the {5-Diamonds}, and Millie Shiu hits the rail in third place.

We are now heads up -- with both Mueller and Naalden looking for their second bracelets of the summer!

No Longer A Shiu-in

Millie Shiu has been crippled after she raised from the button and Mueller called in the big blind. The flop was {8-Spades} {7-Hearts} {3-Hearts} and Mueller check-raised the flop before betting the {10-Clubs} turn and {10-Diamonds} river.

Shiu deliberated on the end, but ended up making the call, but mucked when she was shown {8-Clubs} {7-Clubs}.

She's down to about 65,000

David Williams Eliminated in 4th ($51,145)

David Williams - 4th
David Williams - 4th
Shiu raised preflop and Mueller reraised on the button, David Williams called all in from the big blind. Shiu made it four bets and Mueller called.

The flop was {K-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {4-Spades} and Shiu bet, Mueller called then raised on the {J-Diamonds} turn before firing after Shiu checked the {7-Spades} river.

Mueller flipped {J-Spades} {J-Clubs} ahead of Shiu's {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts}.

Williams could only flip {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} and was knocked out.
