Liu Doubles Up McEvoy

As we've begun consolidating tables again here in the Blue Section of the Amazon Room, some interesting draws have emerged. Tom McEvoy and J.J. Liu are now on the same table. Liu just doubled up McEvoy by opening for 1,000, then calling after McEvoy moved all in for 4,225. Liu had pocket queens; McEvoy had pocket kings which held.

Ho Splashes Around

Maria Ho
Maria Ho
We came up to the Ho / Medic / Black table to see Nenad Medic staring intently at his Blackberry while Maria Ho pondered a decision. With 3,000 in the pot, Ho's opponent had bet 2,100 on the turn of a {8-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {3-Clubs} board. Ho gave the matter some thought while Medic's neighbor leaned in to see what Medic was up to, then splashed a raise to 5,500 into the middle. That was enough to win the pot.

Juanda Doubles Again

John Juanda
John Juanda
Apparently all that John Juanda needs to double up is to be dealt pocket aces. He doubled up earlier with aces and just did so again. Juanda was all in for 6,050 with {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} and called by a player with {K-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}. Everyone had a good sweat on the {J-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {4-Clubs} flop, but it was all safe cards from there: {8-Clubs} on the turn and {J-Clubs} on the river. Juanda doubled up to 13,500.

Let the Post-Dinner Eliminations Begin!

We hardly knew ye...

Liv Boeree had fewer than 10 big blinds left in her stack. She put them all at risk by opening with an all-in raise. Action passed to Erick Lindgren. He made the call with pocket tens and was in great shape against Boeree's pocket fives. Lindgren's tens held up to send the beautiful and talented Boeree to the rail.

Meet Richard Grace

Our chip leaders right now have about 70,000 to 75,000 chips. Richard Grace is one of them. We watched him put in the first raise to 800; the third raise to 7,400 after an opponent reraised to 2,400; and the fifth raise to 55,000 all in after the opponent raised from 7,400 to 19,000. It was the 55,000-chip all-in raise that finally won Grace the pot.

It's Miller Time!

These guys all shop at the same store as Erick Lindgren (far left).

Lindgren hasn't made much stack progress yet (his 7,500 chips actually represent negative stack progress) but that doesn't seem to have hindered his enjoyment of the proceedings much. Lindgren's got three clones sitting with him, can feast his gaze on the lovely Liv Boeree across from him, and has encouraged everyone at the table to have a draught beer. Lindgren even went so far as to have a beer delivered to Nick Binger.

Well done, Erick. We salute you.

How Thin Can You Shave a Value Bet?

With 5,200 chips in the pot preflop, Johnny Lodden took a heads-up flop of {J-Hearts} {4-Spades} {4-Hearts}. He was out of position and check-called a bet of 3,200 from his opponent. Both players checked when a third heart the {7-Hearts} hit the turn.

The river double-paired the board by falling {J-Clubs}. Lodden led out for 2,125 into a pot of 11,600. His opponent called and mucked when Lodden showed down {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}.

Lodden's up to 42,000.
