Alioto's Cold Four-Bet Wins

Dario Alioto who won a PLO bracelet at the WSOPE in 2007 made a raise to 550 from UTG. The button called the raise before a gentleman wearing, well, what I can only describe as half of a Wookie costume reraised to 2,800.

Alioto thought for a moment before now making it 8,000 and the button quickly folded. The big blind, in his astounding Chewbacca shoulder pads, also gave it up allowing Alioto to rake a nice little pot.

Staking Claims

"You're saying if I fold you'll show me?"

While we have had our usual small percentage of players willing to gamble it up with a starting stack of 300 big blinds, many have shown the ability to resist losing it all with an overpair. Or at least claim as much.

There was about 5,000 in the middle and the flop had come {3-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{3-Spades}. It had checked to the player on the button who bet 3,000, then his opponent in early position check-raised to 7,500, sending the player on the button into the tank. Finally, after a bit of back-and-forthing, came the offer to show from the check-raiser if his opponent folded.

Eventually the player on the button did fold, and his opponent fulfilled his promise by showing {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}.

The player on the button claimed to have folded queens. And his opponent claimed that was exactly the hand on which he'd put him. We don't claim any assurances regarding the validity of either claim.

Less for Jesper

The other day, when he had more chips, in a different, happier tournament
Jesper Hougaard has somehow dropped down to just 6,500. The exact circumstances of this are hazy, but the gentleman immediately to his left is currently the possessor of a suspiciously large stack...

In Seif Hands

Mark Seif makes it 550 from middle position and gets one caller behind him.

The flop of {2-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} is checked before Seif bets 1,100 on the {6-Spades} turn and gets called. Both players check the {5-Spades} river and Seif turns over {8-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} to win.

Seif up to 34,500.

Feldman Drops One

From the button, Peter "Nordberg" Feldman raised to 550. Both blinds made the call. The flop came down {6-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {2-Diamonds} and both blinds checked. Felkdman fired a bet out 1,100. Only the small blind called.

The turn added the {K-Spades} to the board and both players checked. The river was the {A-Spades} and the small blind checked. Feldman bet out 2,400 and was called.

The small blind tabled {A-Diamonds} {Q-?} and Feldman held only {Q-Clubs} {9-Clubs}. Feldman is now down to 33,000.

Jared 'TheWacoKidd' Hamby called an 1,100-chip bet on a flop of {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} to see the {5-Diamonds} fall on the turn.

Faced with a 2,100-chip bet, Hamby again made the call, and once the {9-Hearts} landed on the river he again called; this time for 5,100.

Hamby tabled his {10-Spades}{10-Hearts} to prompt a muck from his opponent while he chipped up to 33,000 in chips.

Clements Finds Flush

On a flop of {10-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, Scott Clements called the 700-chip bet of his opponent before the {2-Spades} fell on the turn. Clements checked and again called, this time for 1,300.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} and Clements led at the pot for 3,500. His opponent made the call and Clements showed {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for a flush to take it down. He's back above starting stack to now sit with 32,500 chips.

Scott Montgomery Eliminated

One of the November Nine players will have to wait another year before repeating his final table performance.

Scott Montgomery pushed his remaining few chips into the middle with {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} on a {Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} board.

His only opponent in the hand made the call tabling {7-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for a flopped bottom set.

The turn landed the {J-Hearts} to eliminate Montgomery's flush outs, but leave him with outs to a full house.

When the river fell the {6-Clubs}, Montgomery headed to the rail for a less then perfect ending to his 2009 WSOP.

Micon Angled?

The board read {J-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {3-Hearts} with four players in the hand over at Bryan Micon's table. The small blind checked, the big blind bet 200, the next player called, and then Micon called.

The river brought the {6-Hearts} and the first two players checked. The third player fired out 250. Micon raised to 950. The first player from the small blind called and the big blind folded. The player that bet 250 grabbed a bunch of T1,000 chips -- six of them to be exact -- and tossed them into the pot. The dealer looked at the player and the player said, "That's a call, right?"

"No sir, those are 1,000 chips, that's a raise." responded the dealer.

"O.K." said the player.

Micon looked puzzled and stood up from his chair, putting his hands on his head. "Sir, are you leveling me?" he asked. He deliberated for a few moments and then made the call. The other player got out of the way.

The man that tossed in the reraise showed {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades} for a rivered full house. Micon showed the nut flush with the {A-Hearts} {5-Hearts}, but lost the hand.
