Big Blind Not-So-Special

During that recent delay caused by the Dennis Phillips-Jeff Duvall hand, Tom Schneider took the opportunity to make a quick restroom run. As he hustled back, his wife, Julie, hastened him further, telling him his big blind was coming up. However, when he made it to the table, his BB was still a hand away.

When Schneider's big blind did come, Marc Etienne McLaughlin had raised from middle position to 120,000 and Kevin Schaffel had called from the button. Schneider called, too, and the flop came {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. All checked. The turn was the {3-Hearts}. Schneider and McLaughlin checked, Schaffel bet 300,000, Schneider called, and McLaughlin folded.

The river was the {2-Hearts}, and both players checked. Schneider showed {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}, but was outkicked by Schaffel's {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

"Glad I made it back for my big blind," said Schneider with a wry grin.

Schneider slips to 1.47 million, while Schaffel moves up to 4.9 million.
