Double-Double Schertzer

Ivan Schertzer
Ivan Schertzer
Ivan Schertzer called the bring-in with the {Q-Spades}, then called again when Tim Phan completed it with his {J-Hearts}. On fourth street, Phan picked up an open pair with the {J-Clubs}, and he double bet it. Schertzer drew the {2-Hearts}, and he raised it up to 60,000, just enough to put him all in. Phan called the extra, putting his opponent's tournament life in jeopardy.

In the end, Phan's board ran out ({A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}) {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {3-Hearts} (X), ending with just that pair of jacks. Schertzer could do better, running out ({K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}) {Q-Spades} {2-Hearts} {2-Spades} {6-Diamonds} ({5-Clubs}) for the winning kings up. Schertzer has doubled up in the nick of time, just over 200,000 now.
