Joe Degeorge Makes a Costly Misread

Gary Tang
Gary Tang
We picked this hand up on the flop when Gary Tang led out for 70,000 on a board of {Q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Clubs}. Joe Degeorge raised all in for more than 200,000 and Tang instantly called, tabling {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.

Degeorge, who showed {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts} caught some outs when the {10-Hearts} fell on the turn, but missed both his flush and straight draws when the {2-Diamonds} hit the river.

After the hand, Degeorge said he thought Tang was betting with air and would fold to the big reraise. Unfortunately for him, he was wrong.

Tang is now one of the chip leaders with 625,000.

Allis All Out

Mike Allis was recently eliminated from today's tournament and he recalled to us the hand that led to his demise.

Allis called a preflop raise with pocket tens and flopped a set on a ten-high flop. Allis checked and his opponent moved all in with Allis making the snap-call. His opponent showed pocket jacks and was in bad shape until another jack spiked on the river to leave Allis crippled. He was eliminated soon after.

Sandra Naujoks Eliminated

Sandra Naujoks Eliminated
The last woman standing, Sandra Naujoks, has just been eliminated from the tournament.

After being crippled when she ran her {J-?}{10-?} into the {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} of Max Longwith on a jack-high board, Naujoks moved her last 24,500 into the middle preflop woth {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs} only to be called by an opponent with {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

Naujoks seeing a king on the flop but cringed at what followed when it was spread {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} to give her opponent the nuts with the broadway straight. The turn brought a sweat with the {8-Spades} but the river bricked the {7-Diamonds} as the room got a little dimmer with the loss of Naujoks from the tournament.

Smith Enjoying The Ride

Josh Smith just recalled to us a hand that according to him was “misplayed” that sent a 600,000 pot to his opponent.

Jacob Kalb started the action with a raise to 19,250 before Travis Johnson popped it up to 62,000 on the button. Josh Smith sensed some weakness and made it 148,000 to go from the small blind. Kalb folded but Johnson wasn’t mucking around as he moved all in for 300,000.

Smith sighed, did some math and decided he was now priced in to call with his {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} however he was up against Johnson’s pocket queens. The flop brought a sweat with two diamonds but the turn and river bricked out.

Smith was dented but recovered some chips soon after his pocket kings took down a nice pot on a queen-high flop against an opponent with {Q-?}{J-?}. Smith’s rollercoaster ride now sees him sitting with 300,000 chips.

Tang Takes a Big Hit

We picked this hand up in progress when Steve Karp pushed all in on a flop of {3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and got called by Gary Tang.

Karp showed {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} while Tang held {4-?}{4-?}. The {9-Spades} on the turn left Tang just two outs, which didn't come and the {A-Clubs} on the river sealed the hand for Karp. Tang was left with just 235,000 while Karp now has 660,000.
