Trond Eidsvig Crippled - Then Eliminated

Greg Gugger shoved all in preflop for 19,500 with {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} and got called by Trond Eidsvig with {K-Hearts}{K-Clubs}.

Gugger took the lead on a flop of {6-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and solidified his position when the {Q-Spades} appeared on the turn. The {6-Diamonds} on the river sealed the deal, leaving Eidsvig with just 900 chips. Gugger climbed to 46,000

Eidsvig was eliminated a few hands later when he shoved all in with {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and got called by Linda Transue who held {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}. A board of {9-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} didn't provide enough help, and Eidsvig was sent to the rail.

Alex Jacob, during Day 1 play
Alex Jacob, during Day 1 play
Alex Jacob has just collected a nice pot after eliminating another opponent.

In a raised pot, we caught the action on the flop of {J-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. Jacob was in the tank facing a 11,000 chip bet from his opponent. After several minutes of thought he announced he was all in, as his opponent shrugged, looked down at his remaining 12,000 chips and made a pot-committed call.

Jacob: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Opponent: {5-Clubs}{5-Spades}

The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and river the {J-Spades} and Jacob takes it down to send his opponent to the cashier as he moves up to over 80,000 in chips.

Do's Day is Done

Quinn Do
Quinn Do
Asian Poker Tour star Quinn Do is a recent casualty from today's event. In a hyper-aggressive blind battle, Bob Flowers raised to 5,000 from the small blind, before Do shoved all in from the big blind for 23,500. Flowers made the call.

Do: {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Flowers: {K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

The flop was {2-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} giving Do the lead with his pair but Flowers picked up the flush draw. The turn was the {J-Clubs}, giving Do two pair, but completing the flush for Flowers. Needing to fill up on the river to survive, Do watched the {9-Diamonds} brick on the river to bring his tournament to an end.

Alex Jacob Eliminated

Alex Jacob was on a nice run in the early stages of today's play, but it took just one hand for things to turn around.

Jacob raised to 5,000 from under-the-gun and was re-raised by Mark Salinaro in late position. Jacob then shoved for approximately 40,000 more and was instantly called by Salinaro who showed {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}.

Jacob showed {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} and took the lead on a flop of {K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}. The {3-Clubs} on the turn gave him a commanding lead, but the {A-Diamonds} on the river gave the hand to Salinaro and sent Jacob packing.

Francois Safieddine Doubles Up

Clint Miller raised from the cutoff and Francois Safieddine immediately reraised all in from the button. Miller called and showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} while Safieddine showed {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}.

When the board ran out {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, Safieddine's kicker played and he increased his stack to 51,000.

Set Does It for Souza

After an early position player moved all in for 19,000, Michael Souza rereaised all in over the top for 38,000 in total. The table folded around and the cards were tabled.

Souza: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {K-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Souza spiked a set to take it down and send his opponent to the rail. Souza moves up to 62,000 chips.
