An Interesting Table Developing

With tables continuing to break regularly throughout the tournament, some big names and stacks are finding themselves seated together. One of the more interesting tables right now is #59, which holds Sandra Noujoks, Minneapolis Jim Meehan, and Jim Fowler.

Dinner Break

Of the 337 players who started today, only 163 have lasted long enough to go on dinner break for the next hour.

Cards will be back in the air at 7:10.

Level: 14

Blinds: 1,200/2,400

Ante: 300

Break is Over

Players have returned to the tables following our dinner break. We're on our way to the final table. Blinds are now 1,200/2,400 with a 300 ante.

Some Chip Counts from Around the Room

It's been very quiet since we've returned from dinner. With no big hands playing out right now, we've managed to get some updated chip counts.

Victor Greeley - 205,000
Michael Pesek - 85,000
Brandon Cantu - 110,000
Sorel Mizzi - 25,000
Shaun Deeb - 93,000

Cohen Dented by Big Slick

We caught the action on a flop of {3-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} with the big blind leading out for 8,500 into one of our chip leaders, Scott Cohen.

Cohen popped it up to 20,500, but the big blind made the call. They saw the {7-Spades} fall on the turn and the big blind checked to Cohen, who slid 17,000 into the middle. Once again the bet was called.

The river landed the {6-Diamonds} and both players slowed and checked it down. The big blind revealed {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}, which was good as Cohen tapped the table and tossed his cards into the muck. Cohen slips to 105,000 chips.

Who Needs a Flop?

Two players with fairly large stacks proved that you don't always need to see a flop in order to win a nice pot.

Andrew Buechner raised to 6,300 from the button and was reraised to 15,000 by James Passavant in the big blind. Buechner reraised again, making it 42,000 to play and Passavant refused to back down, shoving all in for 123,200.

That was enough to get Buechner to cry uncle, and he folded his hand, handing the pot to Passavant, who now sits on a stack with 170,000 chips. Buechner has 145,000.

Naujoks Impressing

Sandra Naujoks
Sandra Naujoks
Germany's Sandra Naujoks rose to stardom in March this year when she became only the second female player to ever take down a European Poker Tour title with her $1.3 million win at the EPT Dortmund. Naujoks is certainly an eye-catcher, with her talent on the felt making the world sit up and take notice as she is definitely the real deal.

Naujoks has once again impressed in this event as she has secured her first WSOP cash finish. Looking for a deep result we recently caught her in a hand with one of our chip leaders, Jerry Fowler.

The board read {10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} with Fowler firing 7,000 from the small blind. Naujoks raised it up to 21,000 before Fowler moved all in. Naujoks went into the tank but found a fold to slip back to 55,000.

Mizzi's Airball Sends Him To Rail

Sorel Mizzi, during Event #2
Sorel Mizzi, during Event #2
In a battle of the blinds Sorel Mizzi and Qui Nguyen went to war on a flop of {6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}.

There was already around 20,000 in the pot when Nguyen checked to Mizzi who moved his last 22,000 into the middle. Nguyen made the call and tabled {9-Spades}{5-Spades} for top pair and a gutshot straight draw, to be well ahead of Mizzi who had nothing but imagination with his {K-Clubs}{3-Spades}.

The turn was the {6-Clubs} and river the {7-Diamonds} and the young gun is eliminated as Nguyen storms up the leaderboard to now sit with 240,000.
