Pesek Loses a Big One

Steve Murphy made it 6,000 to go from the hijack and Mike Pesek called from the small blind. Both players checked the flop of {5-Hearts}

and Pesek led out for 11,000 when the {7-Spades}

hit the turn.

Murphy called and Pesek checked the {A-Spades}

on the river. This time, Murphy led out for 20,000 and Pesek tanked for more than two minutes before finally making the call. His cards hit the muck when Murphy showed {A-?}

for top two pair.

Pesek's stack has shrunk to 52,000 while Murphy now has more than 145,000.

Newburger Doubles

Jason Newburger has just found a nice double up. We didn't catch the action but we assume it was all in preflop, as Newburger's {A-Hearts}

was good enough to collect the chips on a {2-Spades}

board as his opponent's cards were already in the muck. Newburger moves up to 117,000 chips.

Philip Souza Loses Nearly Half His Stack

Leo Whitt raised to 14,000 from the button and Philip reraised all in from the small blind. Whitt instantly called, showing pocket kings to Souza's ace-9 off suit.

The board ran out {J-Clubs}

, letting Whitt double up to 67,000. Souza's stack fell to 58,000.

After two players limped into the pot, Jim Meehan raised the action to 31,000 from the cutoff only to get reraised all in by Christian Choi in early position.

Meehan made the call and showed {A-Clubs}

, but was way behind Choi's {A-Hearts}

. A flop of {K-Spades}

put Choi further ahead, and the turn and river provided no help for Meehan, coming {Q-Spades}

.

With the win, Choi now has a chip stack of 183,000.

Steve Murphy Stays Alive

Steve Murphy raised to 8,400 from the button and was called by Saranj Ahvia out of the small blind. Murphy then pushed his remaining 23,800 chips into the middle on a flop of {A-Spades}

, forcing Ahvia out of the pot.

Murphy is still sitting with a short stack of 53,000 while Ahvia has 170,000.

Bell Rung

In preflop action Chris Bell found his last 53,000 chips committed from the small blind after coming over the top of the opening late position raise of Sarang Ahuja.

Bell tabled a strong {A-Clubs}

but would need to improve against Ahuja's {J-Hearts}

The board fell {4-Diamonds}

missing Bell completely and sending him to the rail as Ahuja moves up amongst the leaders with 250,000 chips.

Naujoks Continues To Accumulate

Sandra Naujoks open-limped into the pot from the cutoff and the blinds came along to see a three-way flop of {4-Spades}

.

The blinds checked to Naujoks who tossed out 6,000 before the player in the small blind made it 15,000 to go. The big blind folded and Naujoks deliberated quietly before announcing she was all in.

It was an additional 32,000 to the player in the small blind who was pained by the decision, eventually releasing his hand, as Naujoks scoops the pot to move up to around 75,000 chips.
