Painter Eats the Meek

Jameson Painter raised from under the gun, and had James Meek raise from the button. Not to be outdone, Jimmie Julion raised from the big blind and got a call out of both players.

The flop came {4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and Painter led out with a bet. Meek raised, putting himself all in, and Julion raised once more. Painter made the call and the two went to the turn.

The turn came {2-Spades} and Julion called a bet from Painter, something he would also do when the river came {9-Hearts}.

When it was time to flip up the cards, Painter came out on top having hit trip nines on the river:

Painter: {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Julion: {10-}{10-}
Meek: {3-}{3-}

Meek was sent to the rail, and Julion was crippled. He would be eliminated in the next hand.

Cairns Gets There on Ma - Watch or No Watch

Michael Ma kicked things into gear with a raise from under the gun. When it came around to David Cairns in the hijack, he bumped it up one more time. Ma would eventually make the call, but not before saying, "Don't get there on me. Your watch is worth enough. You don't need any more money."

When the saw a flop of {4-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, Ma check-called a bet from Cairns. However, it would be Ma leading out with bets on the turn, which was {9-Clubs} and river, which was {3-Spades}, getting calls from Cairns each time.

Despite Ma really not wanting Cairns to "get there," Cairns had no getting there to do. He was ahead the whole time, showing {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. It was Ma who had some getting there to get done, but failed to do so with his {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

After the hand, Cairns was up to 186,500 and Ma was down to 18,000.

Cairns Had a Bad Day

"Holy s***," said David Cairns; we had arrived just in time to see him lose a big pot to Ahmad Abghari, who had turned over aces at the end of a jack-high board. Cairns flashed what looked to be at least one king.

"This has been the most painful experience of my life," Cairns continued. Must be nice.

Cairns dropped to 58,000. The silent Abghari rose to 210,000.
