Day 2 Ready to Go

Good afternoon and welcome back to the gently humming confines of the Amazon Room, where Day 2 is on the verge of restarting.

177 players made it through the day - not bad for eight levels of limit - but today our field is going to have to outdo that if they want to stand a chance of sticking to the schedule. The plan is to play down a final table table tonight, so we are in for a very, very long one.

Chip leader Jameson Painter, known to his friends as "Pumpkin" as we discovered when he finalled the $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em event last year, has already had a good Series - he took 5th place in the $2,500 2-7 Draw Lowball just a few days ago. However, there are a fair few folks hot on Painter's tail, and it's anyone's game yet.

Play is due to resume at 3pm, around 40 minutes form now. So sit tight, and we'll bring you all the action, direct to your computer.

Who's Late?

The 3pm start proved a little early for certain of our players - you know you are, er, David Williams and Matt Woodward.

Nevetheless it looks as though most players have now made it to their tables, and the action is as fast and furious as a limit tournament can be.

Myung Doesn't Need to Find Straight to Bust Dubois

John Myung and Evan Dubois were in the small and big blind respectively when action was folded to them. Myung raised it up, and Dubois re-raised, with Myung calling.

The flop came {9-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Myung check-raised Dubouis. Dubois called Myung's bet on the turn, which was the {j-Hearts}, and commited his last 200 chips with a call on the {4-Clubs} river.

Myung tabled {j-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}, having missed his straight draw, but making top pair, which was good enough to eliminate Dubois.

Schwartz Gets Much Needed Boost

Ylon Schwartz picked up a few much-needed chips in this hand against Eric Rivkin.

Schwartz was acting under the gun and threw in a raise, with Rivkin making a re-raise just two seats over. Schwartz called, and the two headed to the flop.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and Schwartz checked. When Rivkin bet, Schwartz raised and Rivkin called. Rivkin called Schwartz's bets on the {3-Diamonds} turn and the {j-Spades} river. When it came time to show some cards, Schwartz tabled {k-}{k-}, which was better than Rivkin's hand of {q-}{q-}.

After the hand Schwartz was up to 15,000, while Rivkin slipped to 29,000

Mize Out-Sheyned

Three players made it to the {2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop and the first player, Philip Chong, chacked. To his immediate left David Mize went all in for his last 500. Ilya Sheyn called, Chong folded, and they were on their backs.

Mize: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Sheyn: miles ahead with {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Turn: a too-little-too-late {j-Diamonds}

River: not the one out Mize needed, but the {10-Spades}
