Cahail's Double Whammy

This hand was recounted to us from the winner of the pot, Blake Cahail.

Cahail raised to 250 from early position before a player moved all in for 400 total. Tom McEvoy made the call from the big blind and Cahail raised enough to put McEvoy all in. McEvoy called putting his tournament life on the line as well.

Cahail showed pocket sevens. McEvoy held pocket threes and the other opponent had king-queen.

Cahail's sevens held up for a double knockout. He is now us to 9,000.

Gross Takes a Small One

Steve Gross was in the small blind with one late position limper already in the pot. Gross decided to limp as well and the big blind checked.

When the flop came {4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, the big blind checked, inspiring the late position limper to as well. Gross halted the dealer and pointed out he was the first to act. Perhaps it was the fact that both of his opponents checked out of position, but Gross decided to bet 150. Both opponents quickly mucked and Gross added 300 to his stack, brining it to 4,100.

PokerStars Update

Tom McEvoy made an early exit.
Tom McEvoy made an early exit.

Hevad Khan is short stacked. He was recently in the big blind when action folded all the way around to the player in the small blind, who opted to limp. Khan grabbed his entire stack, of 1,275 and pushed it into the pot. The small blind folded and Khan managed to add an extra 100 to his count, which is now at 1,375.

Former World Champion Tom McEvoy has busted from the tournament. On the other end of the spectrum, Richard Toth is sitting pretty with 7,500. Victor Ramdin is also doing well with 6,100, more than double of today's starting stack.

Liebert's Tournament Life at Stake

Kathy Liebert
Kathy Liebert

With 600 in the pot preflop, the flop came {3-Spades}{A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and the player in Seat 9 bet 450. Kathy Liebert raised to 1,500, leaving herself 1,350 behind.

The player in Seat 9 then reraised enough to put Liebert all in. Liebert made the call and turned over {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for two pair, which was ahead of her opponent's {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

The turn was the {J-Spades}, giving Seat 9 some extra out. Liebert needed to fade a king or jack on the river, and managed to do so when the {6-Hearts} fell. Liebert doubled her stack and is now sitting with 6,300.

Table Talk

Players over at table 35 are trying to get rowdy. They are trying to organize a shots for the entire table, but a few players aren't really feeling it, including Team PokerStars Pro Joep Van Den Bijgaart.

One table over, Annette Obrestad is chatting away with her friend who is seated and playing this event. Obrestad is not in the field today, she opted to play Event #14, the no-limit 2-7 Draw Lowball. She'll be playing Day 1b of this event tomorrow. Just to note, Obrestad has never played 2-7 draw lowball. There's something to be said about learning as you go, and if anyone can catch on quick, it's her.

Sebok at 45?

While trying to get a chip count, Joe Sebok graciously said, "About eight," as in 8,000. Upon further review, Sebok realized he has a little over 10,000.

"Just tell them I have like 45,000," Sebok joked. He seems to be in good shape with more than three times the starting stack.
