Peter Gelencser raised to 3,100 under the gun, and Bryan Micon called out of the small blind. Micon drew two and Gelencser took one. When Bryan checked, Peter bet 4,000. As soon as Micon called, Gelencser shrugged. "I have a six." With Gelencser's straight no good, Micon's was strong enough to win the pot. Micon has come back from the brink of extinction before the bubble to 69,000. Gelencser slipped to 25,000.
The clock is paused at the moment so that the color up of the green T25 chips doesn't eat into players' dinner breaks. Then they'll have 60-minutes to rest and refuel. Play will resume at 8:40 pm.
Sigi Stockinger is the latest victim to be eliminated from Event #14.
Speaking to tablemate JC Tran, he informed us that Stockinger opened to 3,000 and was three-bet by Chris Bjorin from the small blind to roughly 12,000. Stockinger made the call for his tournament life and drew one against Bjorin's pat (X)(X)(X)(X).
With Stockinger holding he would unfortunately catch a to pair his hand and see him eliminated in 25th place for a $2,943 payday.
Craig Hartman moved all in from under the gun for 8,550 and Mike Wattel made the call before Loi Phan pushed all in too for 30,650. Wattel made the call and all three players stood pat.
Hartman tabled his and Phan his (X)(X)(X), but it would be Wattel's that would be enough to send both Hartman and Phan to the rail in 27th and 26th place respectively.
Event #14 has just had the first double bubble of the 2010 World Series.
Ted Forrest moved all in pre-draw and Keith Lehr made the call along with Jose-Luis Velador.
Lehr stood pat, Velador drew one and Forrest drew two before Velador fired out for 4,500 to prompt a fold from Lehr.
Velador tabled his to best Forrest's (X)(X)(X) to send Forrest to the rail.
However on adjacent table Bryan Micon opened to 2,500 and Shunjiro Uchida made the call before Peter Gelencser three-bet to 10,325 from the small blind.
Micon called and stood pat, Uchida called and drew one as Gelencser drew two before checking over to Micon.
Micon fired out 10,000 and Uchida committed his last 750 in chips as Gelencser folded.
Uchida tabled his , but it would be Micon's that would take down the pot and send Uchida to the rail.
Both Forrest and Uchida will be joint bubble boys and take home $1,472 for their efforts.
Quite a few players have come over to visit with their friends while they wait out the bubble. Michael Binger, who busted a few hours ago, is chatting with his brother Nick. Scott Seiver joined their conversation, and Justin Bonomo just arrived to talk to three of his fellow Panorma Towers residents. Bonomo has a lot of money on the line in a bet that someone from Panorama will win a bracelet this summer.
Elsewhere in the room, Annie Duke visited with Erik Seidel for a minute, Todd Brunson stopped by to watch the action, and as usual, Jean-Robert Bellande was happy to talk to anyone who would listen.
That was fast. After a trickle of eliminations during the last hour and a half, we lost three players in quick succession. That means, with 29 remaining, it's time for hand-for-hand to burst the money bubble. The top 28 are guaranteed at least $2,943.
