Sizing Up the Field
About five minutes to go in Level 2 and the end of which registration will be closed. The total number of entrants has just moved past the 90-player mark. We'll see if they crack 100 in just a few.

Sometimes the best things are saved for last. In this tournament some of the best players in the world arrived late, saving themselves to the last moment to enter. Three new tables have been added to the field and they include Howard Lederer, Steve Zolotow, Andy Bloch, Brett Richey, David Baker, Chris Ferguson, Johnny Chan, Jason Mercier, Eli Elezra, Marco Johnson, Daniel Negreanu, Dan Heimiller, Greg Mueller and Freddy Deeb. Quite the list of names for a bunch of late arrivals.
JC Tran raised to 425 and Jeffrey Lisandro made the call. For the draw, Tran took one and Lisandro took one. Tran then checked and Lisandro bet 1,100. Tran called. Lisandro showed the and Tran mucked his hand.
David Baker was under the gun and raised to 500. Brett Richey was in the big blind and reraised to 2,000. Baker made the call. On the draw, Baker stood pat after Richey drew one. Both players then checked.
Baker spread a ten-eight and Richey couldn't beat it. He lost a third of his starting stack while Baker chipped up to about 9,700.
A few late arrivals representing Team PokerStars have joined the tournament. Team USA members Jason Mercier and Greg Raymer are here along with Daniel Negreanu is here as well as he's on dinner break in Event No. 18. He's rocking the Team Canada patch.
Greg Mueller opened for 400, Jason Mercier called, then Eli Elezra reraised to 2,100. Mueller stepped aside, but Mercier came along.
Mercier took one card while Elezra stood pat. Mercier then pushed all in for 4,600, and Elezra made the call.
Mercier showed . Elezra showed -X-X-X, and Mercier took a nice-sized pot.
"Good for my team!" quipped Daniel Negreanu afterward, alluding to the fact that he has Mercier on his fantasy team for the WSOP.
Mercier has 13,000 at present with all three add-ons. Elezra, meanwhile, is down to 3,500, but also has all three of his add-ons in reserve.
Freddy Deeb drew one on the draw and his opponent stood pat after Deeb had the player all in pre-draw. Deeb couldn't beat his opponent's and dropped to 9,000 chips.
