Day 2

Jonathan Little
Jonathan Little

Day 2 is only a half hour away for Event #20: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha and we're all set for the action!

Jonathan Little is our chip leader with 95 players remaining. He has 129,600 chips followed by Christian Harder (116,100 chips) and Matt Zoorob (115,400 chips).

All eyes will be on Jason Mercier and Steve "pikappraider" Burkholder though as they try and return to the final table. The two went heads up in this event last year and Mercier took down the bracelet and $237,462. Burkholder took second and $146,748.

Mercier and Burkholder are a bit short at the moment so we shall see how far they can go.

Play will resume at 2:30 p.m. PST here in the Amazon Room and we are scheduled to play down to a final table. We hope you join us for this and every event at the 2010 World Series of Poker right here at PokerNews.com!

Bubble Nearing

We are just 14 spots away from the money to start the day, so we presume that play will begin somewhat slowly.

Once the bubble bursts however, the pots could fly at a rapid rate.

Thanks for Coming

They say Pot Limit Omaha is a volatile game, and it didn't take long for first blood to be drawn today. Admittedly, Stephen Burke was short with 16,100, but when he found himself all in with {A-}{A-}{3-}{6-} versus {K-}{K-}{3-}{4-}, he wouldn't have expected to be propping up the Bad Bead Bar after just one hand. But, of course, the Poker Gods work in mysterious ways, and after a {7-}{6-}{2-}{2-} board, the dealer duly popped a third king on the river to send Burke hurtling towards the rail.

Keiner Problem

Tom Rutter has taken a hit courtesy of Team PokerStars Pro and bracelet winner Michael Keiner, who has doubled up as result. All the monies flew in on a {5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{8-Clubs} flop, Keiner with {10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{K-Spades}{A-Clubs}, and Rutter the {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Spades}{J-Spades}. Keiner was ahead right from the off, but sealed the deal with a {2-Clubs} on the turn. The {4-Hearts} river was therefore academic, but I feel inexplicably obliged to report it. Rutter now on 35,000.

Sanders Isn't s0Lucky

With the flop reading {8-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, Jordan "Ims0Lucky" Morgan bet 3,500. His opponent Jason Sanders moved all in for 13,600 and Morgan called:

Showdown
Morgan: {9-Spades}{10-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Sanders: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{2-Spades}

Morgan needed some help and received little from the {K-Clubs} on the turn. The {Q-Clubs} on the river gave Morgan trips for the win though, eliminating Sanders from the tournament. Morgan now sits with 95,000 chips.
