Gaspard & Judah Not Making Friends

We arrived just in time to see Mel Judah and Jean Gaspard souring to each other - they were involved in some sort of dispute concerning whether the third player in the hand, who was keeping very quiet, was owed any change from the pot or had in fact already taken it. Gaspard wanted to make a side bet on it and demanded the pot be counted. Judah declined the bet, and looked very angry. Either way the possibly offending player remained silent and folded on the next street anyway.

Gaspard bet out on fifth, sixth and seventh streets and Judah called all the way; Gaspard revealed kings full of jacks and Judah mucked.

Gaspard: ({k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}) {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Judah: (mucked) {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Third, terribly quiet player: an unpromising {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} before he folded on fourth

"Doesn't like I tell the truth," continued Gaspard.

"Oh, please be quiet," snapped the clearly rattled Judah.

"I don't drink, I don't smoke, I pay attention to what's going on." Gaspard went on.

Another player butted in cheerfully, rather breaking the tension, "I don't drink or smoke, but I do a lot of drugs."

Queens Good Enough for Traniello

Traniello: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} / {5-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Opponent 1: {j-Clubs} (X-X) / {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Opponent 2: (X) / {k-Spades}{9-Clubs} FOLDED

Marco Traniello raised on third street and got a call from two opponents. On fourth street, Opponent 2 bet, Traniello raised, and Opponent 1 folded.

Traniello led the action on fifth and sixth street, making bets that were called each time. Both players checked 7th street, and Traniello showed rolled up queens for the highest pair.

Traniello had lost a lot of chips before the hand and is now back up to 2,700.

Late Arrivals Up the Big Name Count

Now that the late registrants from Level 1 have been allowed to take their seats, this is turning into an extremely interesting tournament indeed.

Further to our aforementioned Table Of Doom, we have the following Table Of Newer Doom:

Seat 1: Alan Kessler
Seat 2: Marcel Luske
Seat 3: Perry Friedman
Seat 5: Gavin Smith
Seat 6: Thor Hansen

Good luck to the unfortunates who have to share a table with that bunch.

Elsewhere we now have Rob Hollink sharing a table with Ylon Schwartz, Bill Chen sitting right next to David Williams, and scattered across the are room Tom McEvoy, Nikolay Evdakov, Barbara Enright, Pat Pezzin, Andre Akkari, Jan Sjavik and Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri.

Friedman Picks Some Up From Smith and Keller

Smith: (X-X) / {a-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}
Kessler: (X-X) / {k-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {8-Spades}
Friedman: (X-X) / {4-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {9-Spades}

Perry Friedman brought in and was followed by Gavin Smith and Alan Kessler. On fourth street, Kessler bet, Smith fold and Friedman raised with Kessler making the call. One more bet from Friedman was enough to take the pot on fifth street. Friedman is now sitting on about 5,800 in chips.

Morrison Flushes Evdakov

Nikolay Evdakov: (XXX) / {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Spades}
Kirk Morrison: {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Diamonds} / {9-Spades}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades}
Third player: (XX) / {8-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} - folded

Nikolay Evdakov was the initial aggressor, completing on third street while Kirk Morrison and a third player just called. Evdakov bet on fourth street and Morrison called again (the third player choosing to duck out of their way at this point). Evdakov bet again on fifth and this time Morrison raised. Evdakov now backed down a little and just check-called down sixth and seventh streets, before just mucking to Morrison's sixth street straight which had morphed into a flush on seventh.

After that, Evdakov was still just a shade above his starting stack on 4,650. Morrison however was well above it on 6,000.

Trips Put Cajelias Above 7k

Player One: {a-Spades} (X-X) / {a-Hearts} {6-Spades} {q-Diamonds} {3-Clubs}
Cajelais: {5-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {7-Hearts} / {5-Spades} {9-Hearts} {8-Spades} {4-Clubs}
Buss: (X-X) / {q-Clubs} {4-Hearts}

Erik Cajelais, Jerry Buss and another player at their table all limped into action on third street. On fourth street, Player One check-raised Cajelais, who made the call, while Buss folded and turned his attention back to the Lakers game. On fifth and sixth streets, Player One checked again, both times only calling Cajelais' bets. Cajelais made one more bet on seventh street, got the call and showed trip fives to take the pot.

Cajelais is now at about 7,400 in chips.

Annette Loss

Annette Obrestad: {j-Hearts}(XX) / {j-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Mr. Opponent: {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}(X) / {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Annette Obrestad, playing what is to our knowledge her first stud event, has taken a considerable hit for Level 2 - she is down to 2,750.

Obrestad completed and called a raise from her opponent before check-calling another bet on fourth street. She check-raised fifth and was duly reraised. She called.

Obrestad bet out again on sixth and a final time on seventh street. Her opponent called on sixth, but on seventh he raised and Obrestad folded, flashing the {j-Hearts} for at least two pair. Her opponent flashed {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} down, but didn't show the third card.

It Ain't Over 'Til the David Sings

Whatever happened, it can't have been a particularly good afternoon for David Singer as when we caught up with the action on fourth street, Singer bet out and then called all in to a raise.

Singer: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} / {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts} / {10-Clubs}
Singer's Opponent: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} / {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} / {q-Spades}

Singer couldn't beat two pair, and hit the rail with the hole evening still ahead of him.
