That's the Way the Ball Bounces

Leeann Ball
Leeann Ball

Leeann Ball open-raised all in for 19,000. Sidsel Boesen -- currently neck-and-neck with La Sengphet for the chip lead -- called the raise. The table folded to Yu Kurita who then pushed all in herself for about 80,000. Boesen thought a bit, then made the call.

Kurita tabled {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, while Ball showed {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and Boesen {6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}.

The dealer handled the rest of the story. The next chapter went {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. That was followed by {Q-Hearts}. And the conclusion read {4-Hearts}.

Ball is out in 24th place ($5,805). Kurita receives a huge boost up to 187,000. And Boesen now has 325,000, still good for second place at the moment behind Sengphet.

Hodge Cuts Down Forrest

Holly Hodge opened with a raise from middle position for 17,500, and it folded to Mary Forrest who reraised all in for 45,000 from the button. The blinds got out, and Hodge called.

Hodge showed {A-Spades}{10-Spades}, while Forrest was hoping her {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} could outlast five community cards. It couldn't even handle one -- the {A-Diamonds} in the door -- follwed by {6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, giving Hodge two pair. The river brought the {3-Clubs}, and Forrest is out in 25th place ($5,805).

Hodge is up to 265,000 now.

Hall Over Ball and Duck

Leeann Ball opened for 14,000, then Ruth Hall pushed all in for 26,000. It folded to Teresa Duck in the big blind who then also pushed all in for about 30,000. Ball made the call.

Duck {A-Hearts}{J-Clubs}
Ball {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}
Hall {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

The board came {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, and Hall's aces held up. Hall chips up to 80,000, Ball slips to 35,000, and Duck is down to 9,000.

Let's Take a Break

We've reached the end of Level 16, with 27 players still remaining. The break is scheduled for 20 minutes, though it may take a little longer as we're also having a chip color up.

27 Remain

With five minutes in the level and the next scheduled break, the tourney is being paused while the 27 remaining players redraw for seats around our final three tables.

Evelyn Eliminated

Evelyn Ng
Evelyn Ng

Evelyn Ng, down to about 24,000, pushed all in from the button, and Timmi Derosa called from the big blind.

Ng showed {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, and needed help versus Derosa's {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. The board brought no such help for Ng, coming {J-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, and Ng is out. Derosa now has 110,000.
