Sarwer Spared

Jeff Sarwer
Jeff Sarwer

After a player raised to 2,600 from the cutoff, Jeff Sarwer moved all in for another 6,000. Andrew Chen thought for a moment in the small blind, then minraised. It was just about enough to put the cutoff all in, and it only took him a second or two to fold his {a-}{k-} face up. It took him even less time to jump out of his seat in frustration when Sarwer tabled {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and Chen showed {a-Spades}{10-Hearts}. "You know, raise, all in, reraise," said Mr. Cutoff. "I assumed I had to be beat."

The flop came {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, giving Sarwer a flush draw to go with his better kicker. The {9-Hearts} turn and {5-Diamonds} river were uneventful, and Sarwer more than doubled to 22,000. After doubling Jeff, Chen was left with 38,000.

Donkcommited

With an early position shove and a call in middle position in front of him, David "donkcommited" Miscikowski decided to commit his last 17,900 from the button. His live opponent made the call and we had ourselves a three-way all in.

Short Stack: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Middle Position: {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}
Miscikowski: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

The board ran out {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} to give the MP player two pair and the pot to send two to the rail.

Sarwer Runs Into Aces Again

With a late position raise in front of him, Jeff Sarwer pushed all in from the small blind but his opponent snap-called.

Sarwer: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

"Aces again?!?" exclaimed Sarwer as the board of {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} didn't assist his cause. After a count down of chips it was discovered that both players had the same chip stack of 19,300 and Sarwer was sent to the rail.

"That's the eleventh time I've run into aces at the World Series this year!" contined Sarwer on his way to the exit.

Ladies Good to Evans

Just as we spotted Nicky Evans in the field, he spotted a hand he liked. He raised to 2,400, and a player two behind him moved all in for a few thousand more. Evans quickly called with {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and had to dodge his opponent's {a-Spades}{5-Spades}. The board ran out {5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, and Evans earned the knockout. He's up to 38,000 now.

Big Slip with Big Slick For Dunst

Tony Dunst had a good start to the day after progressing his stack up to 88,000 chips, but he's just taken a hit as again a player at table 293 found himself with pocket aces.

The board was {5-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} when Dunst moved all in over the top of his opponent's bet of 9,000, and he quickly made the call.

Dunst showed {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} for top pair but the {A-Spades}{A-Clubs} were in the lead and it stayed that way on the {3-Clubs} river. Dunst slips to 56,000.

"I knew I was behind!"

Josh Norris opened the action with a raise to 2,600 from early position and found a lone caller in the big blind.

They saw a {3-Clubs}{7-Spades}{A-Hearts} flop and the big blind checked to Norris who fired 3,700. The big blind then check-raised to 10,000 before Norris moved all in. The big blind let it go and claimed to have folded ace-queen saying, "I knew I was behind!"

Norris is up to 88,000.

Kelly Gets a KO

Kevin Kelly raised to 2,700, and the cutoff moved all in. Kelly called to see that his {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} was ahead of his opponent's {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. The board came {j-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, and Kelly moved up to 76,000 and reduced the field by one.

Frank Chips Up

Dan Frank is up to 36,500 thanks to a recent pot that he recalled to one of our reporters on the floor.

With an early position limper, Frank made it 3,600 to go in middle position. His opponent made the call and they saw a {A-}{10-}{8-} two heart flop.

Frank bet 5,400 and his opponent made the call. The turn was another ace and both players checked to see a {4-} brick on the river. Frank fired 5,200 and his opponent looked him up with pocket nines, but Frank tabled {A-}{J-} to take it down.
