Altbregin Quartered and In Trouble

James Dempsey
James Dempsey

Slowly but surely, Sergey Altbregin has been trending downwards. When action folded to his small blind, he limped in. James Dempsey raised the big blind, then called when Altbregin re-raised.

On a flop of {10-Spades} {6-Spades} {5-Hearts}, the two players quickly got the rest of Altbregin's chips in the middle. Dempsey excitedly stood up and slammed down {a-Hearts} {2-Spades} {3-Spades} {4-Spades}, a wrap straight draw with an uncounterfeitable low draw and spades. Altbregin showed a pair of fives and the nut low draw, {a-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {7-Clubs}. A spade hit the turn, but it was a low spade, {8-Spades}. The river came {5-Diamonds}. Dempsey got three-quarters with the spade flush and the nut low. Altbregin got quartered down to 250,000.

Dempsey is now leading with 3.0 million chips.
