James Van Alstyne Eliminated in 14th Place ($10,282)

James Van Alstyne - 14th place
James Van Alstyne - 14th place

Hold'em

Two hands of hold'em liquidated James Van Alstyne's remaining chips and sent him to the rail in 14th place. First, Van Alstyne played a pot from the big blind against Dustin Leary. On the turn, with the board showing {a-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {3-Spades} {a-Hearts}, Van Alstyne checked and called a bet. The river brought the {k-Clubs}. Van Alstyne checked again, drawing another bet from Leary of 20,000. Van Alstyne had only 37,000 behind and tanked for about a minute before calling.

"Just an ace," said Leary. He opened {a-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. Just an ace was good enough after Van Alstyne mucked.

A few hands later Van Alstyne was all in pre-flop against Andrew Revesz and Ken Lennaard. Revesz and Lennaard checked all the way to the river, {q-Spades} {j-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {9-Spades}. That's where Lennaard's bet folded Revesz. Lennaard opened {k-Diamonds} {10-Clubs} for the nuts. Van Alstyne mucked and headed out to collect his prize money.
