Lisa Hamilton had a nice start to the day, waking up with in one of the first hands.
On a board she got all her chips in against Alan Sass' and held after the turn and river came , respectively.
Hamilton is now up to 56,000 chips and Sass has slipped to 74,000.
Just a few minutes into the first level we've already lost Stanislav Barshak, Phillip Tom, Harry Kazazian, and Greg Pohler.
In an event so full of big names, nearly every table is stacked, but a few are even more intimidating than others. For example, the feature table includes Phil Ivey, James Akenhead, George Danzer, and Todd Terry. Not so great for the other two poor souls that table. Also sharing the felt are Matt Graham, Tom Marchese, Darus Suharto, and Ryan D'Angleo. Shannon Shorr, Isaac Haxton, Chad Brown, and David Singer are all together. And as the day goes on and tables consolidate, they'll only get tougher. We'll keep you posted.
It was a brutal exit for Scott Montgomery. We caught up with the action on the turn of a board reading . Montgomery, in the small blind, checked to Samlane Phomveha, who bet 4,100. Montgomery then raised it up to 12,000. Phomveha clicked it back, making it 24,000. Enough of that, Montgomery moved all in for a total of 82,000. And Phomveha snap called. Montgomery showed for the turned set, but his opponent held for a better flopped one. Ouch. The on the river wasn't the case four Montgomery needed, and he's out almost as soon as he got here.
Action folded to Peter Traply in the small blind who shoved for his remaining 9800. Dmitry Motorov called from the big blind and the hands were tabled:
Showdown
Traply:
Motorov:
The board ran and Traply was eliminated.
Motorov now sits with 74,000 chips.
Ilya Gorodetskiy opened to 2,900 and Lisa Hamilton moved all in for 15,900 on the button. Gorodetskiy called and the hands were opened.
Showdown
Gorodetskiy:
Hamilton:
The board ran and Gorodetskiy held sending Hamilton to the rail. Gorodetskiy now sits with 100,000 chips.
Alan Sass got his last 45,600 in the middle preflop against Ilya Gorodetskiy, editor of PokerNews UK magazine. Sass was ahead with to Gorodetskiy's . The board ran out , and the kings held to double Sass to around 100,000. Moments after doubling himself, Gorodetskiy is now back to 47,000.
