Gavin Gets Hurt

With a pot of more than 250,000 chips in the works, there was a board of {5-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {A-Spades} {4-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} out on the table. Kido Pham had the bet, and he made it 110,000 to go. After some mental gymnastics, Smith talked himself into the call.

Pham showed {10-Spades} {6-Diamonds} for second pair, and that was the best hand. Smith mucked, and he's fallen back to 220,000 now. That gives Pham the other 740,000.

Deuces Double For Kravchenko

Alexander Kravchenko opened to 16,000 from the button only to have Ernst Schmejkal move all in from the big blind. Kravchenko made the call for his last 70,000 and we were off to a showdown.

Kravchenko: {2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}
Schmejkal: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}

With Kravchenko flipping to stay alive, he would be happy to see the {7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{J-Spades} board fall as he doubles through to 140,000 while Schmejkal slips to 820,000 in chips.

Rast Run Down By Ayaz

Ayaz Mahmood limped in from the button and Brian Rast checked his option from the big bind to see a {3-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop fall.

Rast checked and Mahmood fired out 10,000 only to have Rast move all in for 50,000. Mahmood made the call to put Rast at risk of losing his tournament life.

Rast: {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}
Mahmood: {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

With Rast in the lead with his two-pair, he would unfortunately see the {A-Diamonds} land on the turn to give the lead to Mahmood.

When the river landed the {4-Spades}, Rast was eliminated earning himself a $38,424 payday as Mahmood progresses to the final eight tomorrow.

Kostritsyn Wins a Passive-Aggressive Pot

The flop was {2-Spades} {10-Hearts} {2-Hearts} and there was about 20,000 in the pot when Chris Moorman bet 12,000. Alexander Kostritsyn check-raised to 35,000, and Moorman came right back over the top with a three-bet to 75,000 straight. Kostritsyn called.

After that heavy action, both players checked it down after the scary {A-Clubs} turn and {K-Spades} river. Kostritsyn turned up {10-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} for tens up, and that was good enough to win the pot and give him a two-to-one chip lead to work with.

Kostritsyn - 640,000
Moorman - 320,000

French Civil War: Lacay Under Seige

We caught up on the turn with the board showing {3-Spades} {6-Spades} {10-Clubs} {8-Hearts}.

ElkY was the one doing the betting, and Lacay checked to induce a bet of 27,000. He check-raised it up to 57,000, and ElkY called to put about 180,000 chips in the pot.

The {K-Diamonds} filled out the board, and Lacay checked again. ElkY took his cue to fire 111,000 at the pot, and Lacay made the call.

It was two pair again for ElkY as he turned up {3-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} for bottom two. Lacay flicked his cards into the muck, and he's now facing a significant battle to get back in this fight.

Grospellier: 830,000
Lacay: 130,000

French Civil War: ElkY Shoots First

There was a pot of about 150,000 chips in the middle of the when the river arrived on a board of {A-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {8-Clubs}. Ludovic Lacay checked, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier fired out 63,000 chips.

Lacay thought it over for a long while before plunking in the call. ElkY tabled {Q-Clubs} {3-Clubs} for two pair, and that was the best hand. He pulled that pot to grab an edge in his match with 640,000 chips.

Broadway Double For Rousso

On a flop of {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{10-Spades} Vivek Rajkumar and Vanessa bet and raised until Rousso was all in.

Rousso: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Rajkumar: {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

With Rajkumar needing the board to pair to knock Rousso out, the {6-Hearts} on the turn and {J-Spades} on the river wouldn't be what he was needing as he was crippled to just 160,000 as Rousso doubles through to 800,000 in chips.

Chopped Straight Turns Sour For Rast

Brian Rast opened the button to 10,000 only to have Ayaz Mahmood three bet from the big blind.

Rast made the call to see a {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop fall and Mahmood fire out 25,000. Rast made the call as the {Q-Hearts} landed on the turn and Mahmood checked to Rast.

Rast opted to fire out a 78,000-chip bet only to have Mahmood move all in. Rast made the call and we were off to a showdown.

Rast: {10-Spades}{3-Spades}
Mahmood: {10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

With both players holding a queen-high straight, but Mahmood holding a flush draw, the dealer would burn and turn the {4-Diamonds} on the river to see Mahmood double through to 925,000 as Rast slips to just 35,000 in chips.
