What a Field!

The board says 365 players are in today's tournament. Since the break, a few new tables have opened to accomodate late registrants.

Table 264

Steve Zolotow
Shawn Buchanan
Eli Elezra
Tom Schnieder
Erick Lindgren

Table 262

Toto Leonidas
Darus Suharto
Justin Smith
David Grey

Table 261

Dee Tiller
Chris Ferguson
John O'Shea
Max Pescatori
Howard Lederer
David Levi
Hasan Habib

Also scattered among the other tables are Daniel Negreanu, Dennis Phillips, Michael Binger, Scott Clements, Michael Mizrachi, Men Nguyen, Berry Johnston and John Spadavecchia. This certainly is a stacked field.

Buchanan vs Zolotow

Steve Zolotow: (XXX)/{9-}{A-}{J-}{9-}
Shawn Buchanan: {7-} {5-} {2-}/{A-} {4-} {Q-} {10-}

Shawn Buchanan raised on third street and was called by Steve Zolotow. Buchanan bet on both fourth and fifth streets and Zolotow continued to call. Both players checked sixth and took their last card down.

Buchanan bet and Zolotow made the call but mucked when he saw Buchanan's 7-5-4-2-A low. Buchanan was up to 8,500 after the hand while Zolotow dropped to 6,500.

Steindl Recovers from Early Hit

We arrived to see Johannes Steindl betting out on fourth street with {a-}{2-} showing. One opponent holding {k-}{2-} folded, another holding {k-}{9-} called.

Steindl and his opponent both received a {3-} on fifth street and Steindl bet again. His opponent must not have liked his three, as he folded and Steindl took the pot.

The Austrian Team PokerStars Pro must have not had a particularly good early session - that pot bumped him up to 5,800, still well below his starting stack.

Massage Anyone?

Razz is often described as a long, arduous, and boring game; as such, the massage therapists certainly have plenty of business keeping the players relaxed. There are almost a dozen massage therapists practicing their trade in the room.

Among those who are currently utilizing their services are David Chiu, Daniel Negreanu, Ted Forrest, Christopher George and Perry Friedman.

Harman Moves Ahead

Jennifer Harman: (XX)) / {4-}{8-}{4-}{5-}
Bernard Lee: (XX) / {2-}{a-}{k-}{q-}

Jeff Madsen made the bring in with a {k-} but promptly folded when Bernard Lee completed and Jennifer Harman raised.

Lee bet out on fourth street and Harman called. On fifth street Lee backed off a little and check-called. On sixth he gave up entirely, just check-folding this time to another bet from Harman.

Harman moved up to 10,000 after that; Lee meanwhile dropped to 5,000.

Doft Stack Gets Bigger

Mickey Doft: {2-}{6-}{8-} / {a-Hearts}{5-Spades}{j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Doft's opponent: {5-}{6-}{q-} / {2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

Mickey Doft completed and one other player called; Doft bet out on fourth street and his opponent called that too.

Both players checked fifth street before Doft's opponent, now first to act, bet out on sixth street. Doft called, and then called a further bet on seventh street, not looking terribly confident.

Doft turned over his down cards first in a matter-of-fact sort of way, revealing an 8-6-5-2-A low - and his expression slowly turned into one of delight as his opponent turned over a just-behind 8-7-6-5-2 low.

Doft moved up to 11,000.
