Day 2 Almost Here

Welcome back to Day 2 of Event #48: $2,500 Mixed Event!

We're going to be just over an hour late getting started today due to some little event called the Tournament of Champions in which three of our participants (Daniel Negreanu, Mike Matusow and Jennifer Harman) are playing. Nevertheless, we're gearing up and getting ready to go at 4:10 PM local time to play nine more levels of eight-game action.

192 players will be returning today. At the front of the pack is Jared Jaffee who is sitting with 71,125 chips. He's followed closely by Suk Min Sung with 67,900. Not too far behind is Justin Smith (58,225) and Michael Mizrachi (56,875).

We don't expect to reach a final table today, but we should whittle our numbers down quite a bit. Make sure you stick with us through the day. There are a lot of big names left in the field and we're sure to have plenty of action to bring you.

Further Delay

Due to the Tournament of Champions we're going to be starting a little later than originally planned. There hasn't been an announcement as to just when cards will be in the air, but dealers are at their tables and we hope it's not going to be too long.

Amaral and Rowsome Split One

Stud 8/b

Adrienne Rowsome: {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Hearts} / {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Christopher Amaral: {5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} / {4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

Rowsome started the hand off by completing on third street with Amaral making the call. Rowsome also led out with bets on fourth and fifth streets, again with Amaral calling.

On sixth street it was Amaral who got things started with a bet and called when raised by Rowsome. Amaral bet once more on the river, and this time Rowsome elected simply to call.

Amaral had the low taken care of, but Rowsome's aces took the high for a split pot.

Team PokerStars Back for Day 2

Team PokerStars is heavily represented in the field for Day 2, but can they make it through the day and move onto the final day? Only time will tell, but they do have some numbers on their side with nine team members and one friend. Here's a list of who's in the field representing them.

Gavin Griffin (USA
Jason Mercier (USA)
Luca Pagano (Italy)
Dario Minieri (Italy)
Alexander Kravchenko (Russia)
Michael Keiner (Germany)
Jose Barbero (Argentina)
Daniel Negreanu (Canada)
Mandy Thomas (Online)
Bill Chen (Friend)

Trip Sixes for Lunkin

Stud-8

Jeff Shulman: (X)(X) / {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{K-Spades}{8-Clubs} / (X)
Vitaly Lunkin: (X)(X) / {K-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} / (X)

Picking up the action on fifth street, Shulman fired and Lunkin made the call. Shulman then checked sixth and Lunkin checked behind. On seventh street, Shulman called a bet from Lunkin.

Lunkin tabled the {A-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for trip sixes and Shulman mucked his hand. Lunkin chipped up to about 13,000 while Shulman dropped back to 11,700.

Serock Left Out of the Party

Stud 8/b

Justin Smith:{a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} / {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Alexander Kravchenko: (X)(X) / {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Ylon Schwartz: {k-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} / {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{10-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Joe Serock: {6-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Spades} / {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

This hand turned out to be a wild one. It started when Smith completed, Kravchenko called, and Schwartz raised, with Serock, Smith and Kravchenko calling the three-bet.

On fourth street we only had one bet, coming from Schwartz with everyone calling. Schwartz went all in with a bet on fifth street and was called by Serock before Smith raised. This led Kravchenko to fold, but Serock stuck around.

Serock check-called bets from Smith on sixth street as well as seventh street but found himself shut out of the hand when Smith showed the best low and Schwratz the best high with two pair.
