Will Failla Eliminated in 4th Place ($163,532)

Will Failla - 4th place
Will Failla - 4th place

There is to be no 1st-place joy for Will Failla in this poker tournament. He moved all in pre-flop and saw Ryan Welch instantly move all in right behind him. That couldn't have been good news for Failla, and in fact it wasn't. His {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades} was in deep trouble against Welch's {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}. With the assembled rail shouting for various cards based upon their chosen champion's hand, the dealer burned and produced a flp of {q-Hearts}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}, no help to either player. The turn {5-Spades} left Failla looking for one of three remaining sevens in the deck to stay in the tournament. The river was three-across, but it was a {6-Diamonds}, not a seven, ending Failla's deep run. He leaves in fourth place with $163,532.

Eaton Steals One with King-High

Our first significant post-dinner pot was contested between Guillaume Darcourt and Jon Eaton. On a flop of {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, Darcourt checked and called 135,000. The turn {2-Hearts} did not seem to change anything. Again Darcourt checked and again he called a bet, this time of 260,000. Both players checked the {6-Hearts} river. Eaton had been firing away with king-high, {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, which turned out be good against Darcourt's queen-high.

Bradley Craig Eliminated in 5th Place ($121,451)

Bradley Craig - 5th place
Bradley Craig - 5th place

It turned out that Bradley Craig wasn't able to last very long at all after having his stack crippled by Guillaume Darcourt. He open-shoved for 344,000 with {a-Hearts}{8-Spades} and was called by Guillaume Darcourt, who turned over his third strong holding in a row, {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. Darcourt's railbirds (who have become a bit unruly during the last hour) were screaming their lungs out as the flop came {8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}. Darcourt retained the lead with his nines, but Craig had improved to a pair of eights. Any ace or any eight would give him the lead in the hand.

It wasn't to be. The turn {6-Spades} and the river {7-Hearts} were not enough to save Craig. He exits in 5th place, and suddenly our final table has only four competitors remaining.

Sergey Lebedev Eliminated in 6th Place ($91,407)

Sergey Lebedev - 6th place
Sergey Lebedev - 6th place

Sergey Lebedev shoved all in preflop with {A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} and a short stack. Guillaume Darcourt quickly called him down with {A-Diamonds} {K-Spades}, and Lebedev was going to need some help to stay alive.

He wouldn't find any; the dealer ran out a board of {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} {10-Spades} {K-Hearts}, and Lebedev gets nothing useful on board. Unable to improve his dominated hand, he has been eliminated in 6th place, good for more than $90,000.

Darcourt Doubles through Craig

Bradley Craig's stack has been decimated after an all-in encounter against Guillaume Darcourt. Craig got things started pre-flop by raising to 73,000. Darcourt, with the button, was next to act and made it 225,000. Craig didn't mess around when action returned to him. He shipped in his whole stack and was instantly called by Darcourt.

Craig: {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Darcourt: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

Darcourt was the dominating favorite, and retained the lead through every street of a {5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Hearts} board. When the stacks were counted down, Darcourt's 1,271,000 was doubled to about 2,600,000 while, Craig fell to 345,000.
