Chips for Cowan

Josh Cowan has built a big stack today, and had moved up around 150,000 before the following hand took place.

Cowan opened for 3,000, a player reraised to 7,500, and Cowan called.

The flop brought one spade, coming {A-Spades}{6-}{3-}, and Cowan put out a big bet -- enough to put his opponent all in -- and his opponent called. Cowan showed {6-Spades}{5-Spades}, while his opponent had {Q-}{Q-}.

The turn was the {4-Spades}, giving Cowan a flush draw and an open-ended straight draw. Then the river brought the {2-Hearts}, giving Cowan the pot.

He's way up over 190,000 now.

Respect the Lady

A player opened the pot in the hijack seat with a 2,800-chip raise, and the player next to speak called. On the button, Isabel Carvalho moved all in for an additional 25,900 chips.

The initial raiser asked: "Where are you from?" and the dealer understood him to have said, "I call!"

After clearing things, both players folded.

Isabel is now up to 35,000 chips.

Chips Moving to Prendiville

Sean Prendiville, who has steadily chipped up all afternoon, and Alex Jacob, who has lost a few chips during the last few levels, were just involved in hand with one another.

Jacob opened with a 2,700-chip raise, and only Prendiville, sitting to Jacob's left, called. Both checked the {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop and {8-Spades} turn. The river brought the {K-Spades} and another check from Jacob. Prendiville then bet 3,500, and Jacob called. Prendiville showed {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, and Jacob mucked.

Prendiville is up over 130,000 now, while Jacob has 24,000.

Great Scott

Kara Scott just eliminated an opponent who had gone all in with {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} and was racing against Scott's {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}. The board came {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, and another one bites the dust.

Scott has 49,000.

Zhu-ming Up

It folded around to the small blind who pushed all in, and Yueqi Zhu called from the big blind. Zhu showed {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, and was well behind his opponent's {Q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

The flop came all spades -- {7-Spades}{8-Spades}{A-Spades} -- and Zhu's chances of winning the hand had fallen even further. The turn was the {6-Hearts}, though, giving him a few straight outs. And one of them -- the {9-Hearts} -- fell on the river, giving Zhu the hand.

Zhu is now up to 31,000.

Pot for Valkenburg

From the small blind, Paul Valkenburg opened the pot with a 3,000-chip raise. The player in the big blind tanked, and eventually called.

The flop came out {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Valkenburg fired a 3,100-chip bet. He was called and saw a {k-Spades} hit the felt on the turn. Both players checked.

The river card was a {6-Spades} and they checked again.

Valkenburg tabled {q-Spades}{7-Diamonds} and took the pot.

Dempsey Gets Action, Loses Chips

James Dempsey opened with a raise to 2,300 and ended up having four opponents see a {7-Spades}{A-Hearts}{J-Spades} flop with him. It checked to Dempsey who bet 6,600 into the group, and just one of his opponents called.

The turn was the {9-Spades}. Dempsey's opponent checked, he bet 8,200, then came an all-in check-raise to 24,300. Dempsey called, tabling {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for the flopped set, while his opponent turned over {A-Spades}{10-Spades} for a turned flush.

The river was the {8-Diamonds}, and Dempsey -- who had built up over 60,000 at one point today -- tumbled back down to 18,000.
