Fashion Show

James "Flushy" Dempsey has just brought fellow bracelet winner Gavin Smith over to this tournament to gawk at Dempsey's friend Paul Parker's outfit. Parker, well known on the British circuit for his sartorial extravagance, is indeed looking particularly awesome today in a multicoloured paisley shirt, bold check trousers, purple and turquoise striped socks and a houndstooth fedora.

The two of them were discussing a British poker awards ceremony a couple years back where we seem to recall (although the drinks were flowing pretty heavily) that they were both nominated in both the Best Dressed and the Worst Dressed categories. Parker took the Best Dressed that time around, and Dempsey the Worst Dressed. We would stand by that decision at this time.

Return of the Mackey

We got to the table just in time to see all the chips go in on the river of the {k-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} board. Whatever James Mackey's opponent had will remain known only to him, as Mackey flipped {7-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flush and his opponent just mucked.

Mackey moved up to 130,000.

Battling Blinds

It was a blind versus blind battle when the player in the small blind made it 3,200 to go. Lauren Kling made the call from the big blind and the flop came down {2-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{2-Spades}.

The player in the small blind tossed in a bet of 4,200 and Kling made the call.

On the {j-Hearts} turn, the player in the small blind made it 7,500, leaving only 6,000 behind.

"I know you're bluffing," Kling said. She got down to the business of stacking all her chips, making it look like she was about to shove, but instead, tossed her cards toward the muck.

She didn't win the battle this time, and is sitting on 22,000.

Ramdin Smacked by the Deck

Victor Ramdin told us an interesting tale of woe from the deck.

We understand that he raised to 3,600 under the gun with pocket fours and got two callers to see a {q-}{6-}{4-} flop with two hearts and one club on it. He bet out 6,000 and the first caller folded. The second one, however, called again.

The turn was another club, and this time Ramdin checked. His opponent went all in, Ramdin called, and they revealed their hands - Ramdin his set of fours, and his opponent {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} for overcards and a flush draw.

The river duly came another club giving Ramdin's opponent the flush while failing to pair the board. The unfortunate Ramdin dropped to 47,000.

Double Captain

From early position, "Captain" Tom Franklin made it 3,200. A player in middle position raised tot 9,800 and Franklin made the call.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Franklin moved all in for 4,300 and his opponent made the call.

Franklin: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The turn brought the {j-Clubs} and the river the {8-Diamonds} giving Franklin a double up to 30,000.

Living on the Ettedgi

Joel Ettedgi and James Mackey saw a {2-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} flop on which Ettedgi bet out 4,200. Mackey raised to 11,000, Ettedgi called and they saw a turn.

Turn: {4-Hearts}

Ettedgi checked the turn and then called a 14,000 bet from Mackey. They saw a river too.

River: {9-Diamonds}

Again, Ettedgi checked. This time the bet from Mackey was 24,000. Ettedgi made the call, but mucked when Mackey turned over {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}.

Ettedgi - down to 110,000
Mackey - up to 210,000

Franklin Chips Up

On a flop of {8-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} "Captain" Tom Franklin and another player at the table got all the chips in the middle. Franklin was at risk for his tournament life.

Franklin: {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: {8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}

Another player at the table said he folded queens after Franklin and his opponent tabled their cards.

The turn brought the {2-Spades} and the river the {4-Clubs} and Franklin increased his stack to 74,000.

Getting the Best of Shak

Dan Shak, in middle position, opened to 5,000. The player in the big blind made the call and the two were on to the flop.

Flop: {10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Both players checked and the turn brought the {a-Hearts}. It was checked to Shak who bet 10,000. His opponent made the call and the {8-Hearts} fell on the river.

Both players checked Shak mucked his cards when the player in the big blind tabled {a-Spades}{q-Clubs} to take the pot. Shak now has 118,000.
