Socrates Drinks the Tournament Hemlock

Dan Shak opened to 22,000 and Alfonso Amendola called on the button. Socrates Philippou in the big blind made it all in for 115,000 more and Shak folded - according to our field reporter, eating something that involved chicken and looked delicious. Either way Amendola made the call and they turned the cards over.

Amendola: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Philippou: {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

"I'm in trouble," said Philippou, reasonably.

Board: {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{a-Spades}{4-Hearts}

As it turned out both players made a flush but Amendola's was higher. Philippou was out, and the Amendola stack got bigger.
