Gibson Takes it Slow with the Ladies

A player in late position opened with a mini-raise to 1,600, and Joshua Gibson called from the small blind. They took a heads-up flop of {9-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {2-Spades}, and Gibson check-called a bet of 1,800. The {J-Hearts} landed on fourth street and drew checks from both players, and the {A-Clubs} filled out the board on the river, and Gibson checked again. His opponent fired out another bet, 2,600, and Gibson made a reluctant call with pocket queens. The other player turned over {A-Spades} {8-Spades}, dragging the pot and knocking Gibson down a peg to 47,000.
