D'Agostino Recovering

With the board reading {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, John D'Agostino checked, before raising a bet of 375 (plus a subsequent call) to 1,575. The initial bettor called, the other player folded.

D'Agostino then took it down with a bet of 3,500 on the {8-Clubs} turn. As a result, he's back up to 22,000 after hitting a few early hurdles.

Arias Back in Black

We arrived over at Jorge Arias' table to see him involved in a hand against two players on a flop reading {2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Arias was in early position and bet 600 into the pot with both opponents (one in the cutoff and one on the button) calling.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Arias led out again, this time for 750. The player in the cutoff folded, but the player on the button raised to 2,200. Arias made the call and we were headed to the river.

The river came down {6-Hearts} and both players checked. Arias showed {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} and his opponent mucked his hand, showing a black jack.

With the winnings from that pot, Arias is now up to 32,700.

Saul Ships it In

Kevin "Bel0wAb0ve" Saul opened to 300 from under the gun before a player on the button three-bet to 875. The blinds released and Saul called.

The dealer fanned {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} and Saul checked to his opponent who fired 1,175. Saul check-raised to 3,175 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and Saul checked to his opponent again. He bet 5,225 and Saul cut out enough chips to make the call, riffling them with his right hand for a moment or two. Finally, he put them back into his stack and moved all in.

"Wow," Jamie Gold blurted from across the table.

Saul's opponent gave up on the hand, winning Saul the pot and chipping him up to 37,000.

More Woe for Tilly

Jennifer Tilly bet out on every street of the {6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{8-Spades} board and her sole opponent called her all the way down. She eventually tabled {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for jack-high, and the other player's {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} were good enough to take the pot.

She dipped down again, her stack this time settling on 21,600.

I Want You for November Nine

All throughout the Series, Perry Friedman has been wearing an array of hats ranging from a lamp shade to a meat feast pizza. For the Main Event, Friedman had gone patriotic, and opted for an Uncle Sam type hat.

Despite his unique fashion choices, Friedman is no amateur and has cashed an impressive 19 times at WSOP. That big score, however, has so far evaded him, but maybe this will be his year.

Currently, he has 29,000, but if he makes it to the November Nine, I shall tip my hat to him, although it shall be proverbial as I don't actually have one.

Liuser

Five players made it to the {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop but Eric Liu bet 1,000 and only one player called, meaning that they were heads up to the turn.

Liu bet out another 2,700 on the {10-Clubs} turn and his opponent called. They saw a {7-Clubs} river and this time Liu checked; his opponent checked behind.

When it came to showdown, Liu tabled a somewhat lacklustre {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for nothing more than king-high. His opponent revealed {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for trips, and Liu dipped back down to 37,000.

MacPhee Loses Ground

Kevin MacPhee opened to 300 from the cutoff seat, and he was called in three places.

The four players took a flop of {A-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {5-Hearts}, and action checked to MacPhee. He continued out with a bet of 450. The button called, and the other two players ducked out, and it was heads up to the turn. It was the {10-Hearts}, and MacPhee checked to his opponent this time. When the button bet 725, though, MacPhee check-raised to 2,500 and his opponent called. MacPhee bet 5,000 on the {Q-Spades} river, and the button called one last time.

At showdown, MacPhee tabled {A-Spades} {4-Hearts} for top pair, but his hand was second-best. The button showed down {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts}, his kicker being good enough to take the pot.

MacPhee - 21,100

Tilly Bets, Tilly Folds

We found Jennifer Tilly betting out 1,100 on the turn of a {10-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Spades}{q-Diamonds} board, only for her young opponent (possessor, by the by, of extremely good posture, for a poker player) to raise to 3,000. Tilly considered it for some time, but eventually gave her opponent the respect of a fold.

It's not been a great start for Tilly - she's down to 23,000.

Boeree Stumbles

Facing a raise to 300 and two calls, Liv Boeree opted to three-bet to 1,500 from the big blind. Only one player, the last to call the original raise, decided to come along.

The flop fell {k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Boeree led out for 1,600. Her opponent raised to 4,000 and Boeree called.

Boeree slowed down after the {6-Diamonds} turned, check-calling 5,500 from her opponent.

The river was the {2-Spades} and Boeree checked again. Her opponent moved all in for 15,175 and after some deliberation, Boeree made the call.

Her opponent tabled {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for top set and Boeree saw her stack slip to just 5,325.
