Esfandiari Jumps Out to Early Lead

Level 2 : 25/50, 0 ante

Two players limped in from early position and Esfandiari raised to 225 from the hi-jack. The blinds folded and both limpers called.

The flop came {J-Spades}{3-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and both players checked to The Magician, who continued with his aggression and bet 550. The first limper min-raised to 1100 and the second limper over-called. Esfandiari looked puzzled and thought for a while before four-betting to 3,500. The first limper immediately shoved his remaining stack into the middle (less than Esfandiari's raise) and the over-caller mucked.

Esfandiari: {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
Opponent: {5-}{6-}

The {3-Clubs} turn and {Q-Spades} river were no help to Esfandiari's opponent, who was sent to the rail.

"You know, five-six off is a pretty strong hand," one person to Esfandiari's left said. "Yeah, limp-calling a raise..." Esfandiari replied. Everyone enjoyed a chuckle.

The Magician is off to a great start, having built his stack up to 14,500 so far.
