Another Stimulus Tournament Preparing to Start

Event #20, $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em
Event #20, $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Event #20 is the second of five $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournaments at the 2011 World Series of Poker. The first, Event #8, attracted an astounding 4,178 players and amassed a $3,760,020 prize pool, including $611,185 for first. After a grueling final table and marathon heads up battle, Sean Getzwiller took the money, bragging rights and most importantly, the WSOP gold bracelet.

Last year, the second "stimulus tournament", as it is fondly called, saw 3,042 players register and after five days (including two Day 1's), Stephen Gee stood atop them all. Gee picked away at the final table all day, finding ways to build his stack without confrontation. Before long, he found himself heads up with a chip lead against the talented Matt Vance. After two hours of grinding down his opponent, he found the situation he was looking for when his {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts} got it in against the {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} of Vance and held. For the win, Gee received $472,479 in prize money along with his first gold bracelet.

Today's action is set to kick off at 12 p.m. and as usual PokerNews will have all the updates covered from end to end. Make sure you stick close when the cards begin to fly in about 15 minutes so you don't miss any of the action!
