Matthew Elsby eliminated in 5th place ($47,138)

We were right about that curse - no sooner than we had put up that last post, we just saw Matthew Elsby walk out the door in fifth place ($47,138).

The action folded to Elsby who raised before the flop; Elsby then called Thomas Jamieson's reraise to go heads-up to a flop of {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}. Jamieson opened, Elsby raised, Jamieson reraised and Elsby called before raising all-in after Jamieson opened again on the turn of the {A-Hearts}.

Elsby showed {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for top pair and the nut flush draw, but Jamieson had him dominated with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for two pair. The river did run red - but it was in the form of the {Q-Hearts} - and Elsby, who had been looking rather rattled since the start of this post-dinner session, quickly picked up his back and rushed out of the Amazon Room.
