Fong Crippled Before Elimination

Bradley Kopelson moved all in preflop for 215,000 with {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} only to run into the {A-Hearts}{K-Spades} of Michael Fong. The {9-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} paired Fong, though it did give Kopelson a gut-shot straight draw to a ten.

"Come on ten," Kopelson said. The dealer did not oblige on the turn, which was the {9-Hearts}. "Come on ten," Kopelson pleaded once again. The dealer burned and put out the {10-Hearts}.

"YES," Kopelson bellowed. Fong couldn't believe it as he was left with just 51,000 after the hand. A short time later, he was eliminated from the tournament in 26th place for $12,603.

Mefodichev Can't Overcome Steinberg's Jacks

Action folded to Max Steinberg in the cutoff and he put in a raise to 23,000. The button and small blind both got out of the way, while Vladimir Mefodichev chose to three-bet to 110,000 from the big blind. Steinberg responded by moving all in and Mefodichev called off his last 55,000.

Showdown
Mefodichev: {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Steinberg: {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The {3-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop gave Mefodichev a good sweat as he picked up a flush draw, but neither the {7-Hearts} turn nor {K-Spades} river would complete it. Mefodichev was eliminated in 25th place for $12,603.

Double for the Dutchman

Vincent Van der Fluit
Vincent Van der Fluit

Action folded to Vincent van der Fluit on the button and he moved all in for 114,000, which Jay Hong called from the big blind.

Showdown
van der Fluit: {Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Hong: {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}

It was a classic race, but van der Fluit needed to improve. As it happened, that's exactly what he did when the flop came down {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and delivered him trips. Neither the {2-Diamonds} turn nor {J-Hearts} river were the four Hong needed, and van der Fluit doubled to 242K.

Hong Loses Another Race

When action folded to him on the button, Jay Hong moved all in for 138,000 holding {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and received a call from the {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} of Ryan Laplante in the big blind.

It was another race situation for Hong, who came up short on the last one. Unfortunately for him, the result would be the same here as the board ran out {7-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Laplante took down the pot with a pair of aces. Hong finished in 24th place and takes home $12,603.

Baldwin Runs Into Kings

A short-stacked Joe Baldwin moved all in under the gun for 104,000 and was called by Dylan Hortin in middle position. When action reached David Nicholson in the big blind, he moved all in over the top and Hortin got out of the way.

Showdown
Nicholson: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Baldwin: {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}

Baldwin's best chance of winning was to catch an ace, but that proved easier said than done as the board ran out {2-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Baldwin became our 23rd-place finisher and takes home $12,603 for his efforts.
