Donnacha O'Dea Eliminated in 5th Place ($56,277)

Donnacha O'Dea
Donnacha O'Dea

After battling it out behind chip leader Greg Mueller for a long time we just saw Donnacha O'Dea go in fifth place. O'Dea lost a big pot in 2-7 Triple Draw before the break, and right afterwards he played his final hand in Stud against Kevin Calenzo.

Stud

Donnacha O'Dea: (x-x) / {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{K-Spades} / (x)
Kevin Calenzo: (x-x) / {7-Spades}{J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades} / (x)

O'Dea raised it up on third street to 40,000 after which Calenzo made it 80,000. The other players folded after which O'Dea called.

On fourth street Calenzo bet 40,000 once more and O'Dea called. Fifth street gave O'Dea the betting lead, but he opted to check again. Calenzo fired out 80,000 and O'Dea called with just 40,000 chips left behind. On sixth street O'Dea's check-called his final 40,000 and we got to showdown.

Calenzo showed {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for a pair of sevens and O'Dea was trailing with just {A-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. O'Dea was looking to catch an ace, king, queen or nine to take the lead, but his draw was dead when Calenzo turned over the {7-Hearts}. O'Dea improved with the {A-Spades}, but couldn't beat Calenzo's trips.

We are down to four players.

Baker Gets Right Back in it

David "ODB" Baker

2-7 Triple Draw

David Baker just won a massive pot in 2-7 Triple Draw that got him right back in the game. He's currently in second place, but it's all still very close.

The action started with Greg Mueller raising it up to 60,000 from the cutoff and Donnacha O'Dea three-bet from the button to 90,000. Kevin Calenzo gave up his small blind after which Baker four-bet from the big blind to 120,000. Mueller folded and O'Dea called.

Baker stood pat right away and O'Dea drew two cards.

"You three-bet me and draw two?" Mueller said with a smile while Baker had already put in a 30,000 chip bet. O'Dea called.

Baker stood pat again, and O'Dea needed two cards again.

Baker fired out 60,000 right away and O'Dea pondered for a while before calling once more. Baker's action didn't change and he stood pat again. O'Dea needed one card.

On the last betting street Baker checked to the Irishman who looked at his cards and bet out 60,000.

"Raise," Baker announced who put in 120,000 with just 18,000 left behind. O'Dea shook his head, sighed and eventually folded his cards. Baker is out of trouble while O'Dea heads towards the bottom of the standings.

Pat, Pat for Mueller

2-7 Triple Draw:

Action folded to Greg Mueller in the cutoff and he raised to 60,000. Donnacha O'Dea and Kevin Calenzo called from the button and small blind respectively, and the former drew one while the latter took two. After Mueller drew one himself, all three players checked.

Calenzo checked after drawing another two, prompting Mueller to stand pat and bet. O'Dea, who had drawn one, folded, while Calenzo made the call. From there, Mueller stood pat but checked after Calenzo drew one and checked.

Calenzo showed {2-}{2-}, so Mueller quickly revealed the winning {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts}.

Wheel For Calenzo

Stud Eight or Better

Greg Mueller{x-}{x-} / {7-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} - Fold
Kevin Calenzo{x-}{x-} / {2-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{A-Clubs} / {x-}

The action started with Kevin Calenzo who had the bring in for 10,000. Action got folded to Greg Mueller who made it 30,000 to go. Donnacha O'Dea made the call as did Calenzo.

On fourth street O'Dea had the high hand and he bet 30,000, only Calenzo called. Fifth street gave O'Dea a pair of kings and he fired out 60,000. Calenzo called again, and sixth street slowed O'Dea down. He checked this time and Calenzo bet 60,000. O'Dea called and seventh street got dealt down.

O'Dea check-called another 60,000 chips and Calenzo announced he had made a wheel. Calenzo showed {4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} and raked in this big pot.

An Uneventful Round of PLO

Pot Limit Omaha:

The pot-limit Omaha round just concluded and there was very little action. In fact, the only notable hand happened when David Baker raised to 35,000 from the cutoff and received a call from Joseph Couden in the small blind. Both players proceeded to check every street as the board ran out {K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, and Couden rolled over {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

"Aces full of tens is good," Baker joked.

It's also worth noting that on the last hand of the round Baker opened for 35,000 under the gun only to have Greg Mueller make it 100K to go from the button. Baker inquired as to what the next game and limits would be, but made the call nonetheless. He then checked the {K-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop and folded to Mueller's pot-sized bet. Baker is down to 210,000.
