Quehen Takes One From Weissman

Joey Weissman raised from the small blind and Jeremy Quehen called in the big. The action checked through to the turn on a board of {J-Spades} {6-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} and Weissman check-called a 125,000 Quehen bet. The river card was the {4-Clubs} and Weissman tank-folded to a 225,000 Quehen bet.

Philip Meulyzer Takes His Turn to Double Up

Philip Meulyzer losing and then winning
Philip Meulyzer losing and then winning

Philip Meulyzer has just shipped half of his stack to Bradley Lipsey and here he is getting it back from Joey Weissman. Meulyzer moved all-in from first position and Weissman also moved all-in from the button. Both blinds folded and we had a flip with Meulyzer at risk of elimination.

Meulyzer{A-Clubs} {K-Spades}
Weissman{J-Clubs} {J-Hearts}

The flop was {10-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {3-Spades} prompting a huge cheer from the American side of the rail, but the {A-Spades} was met with grunts and groans. The {9-Hearts} hit the river and Meulyzer had doubled up.

Bradley Lipsey Eliminated in 5th Place ($149,162)

Bradley Lipsey
Bradley Lipsey

Jeremy Quehen opened from under the gun and made it 120,000. Action folded around to Bradley Lipsey in the small blind who three-bet to 350,000. Joey Weissman in the big blind then four-bet all in. Quehen got out of the way and Lipsey snap called.

Weissman: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Lipsey: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

The board came {A-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and with that Lipsey was our fifth place finisher.

Philip Meulyzer Eliminated in 4th Place ($203,781)

Philip Meulyzer - 4th
Philip Meulyzer - 4th

Our chip leader had just lost a few pots to Jeremy Quehen when this happened…

Joey Weissman raised to 120,000 in the cutoff and Jeremy Quehen three-bet to 330,000 from the small blind (this was the third time that Quehen had three-bet Weissman in succession). Fernando Brito moved out of the way in the small blind but Philip Meulyzer didn't want to move anywhere except into the thick of the action. He pushed his 1.1 million chips across the line indicating he was all in.

Weissman looked at his cards, then at Quehen before he announced he was all-in. Quehen folded and we had a showdown.

Weissman{A-Spades} {K-Spades}
Meulyzer{10-Spades} {10-Clubs}

The flop was {J-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {3-Spades} but you could barely hear the commentator over the bedlam coming out of the Weissman rail. The turn card was the {9-Spades} and the crowd were sucking Weissman's outs out of the deck. We looked at Weissman and we are sure a smile perked up on his face…he knew it was coming! The {K-Clubs} on the river sent Weissman reeling to the rail and the rail went nuts. Absolutely everyone was jumping up and down except for the dog. Yes, you heard right, there is a dog in the rail!

Quehen Gets There

Joey Weissman raised it up to 120,000 from the button and Jeremy Quehen three-bet to 320,000. After a few moments of contemplation Joey Weissman moved all in and Quehen quickly called.

Quehen: {A-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Weissman: {A-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The board came {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and with the seven on the river Quehen hit his straight and stole the hand from Weissman.

Fernando Brito Eliminated in 3rd Place ($282,676)

Fernando Brito - 3rd
Fernando Brito - 3rd

Fernando Brito just went on a surge, that for a short while looked like it was driving him into contention in this three way battle. But if he was really going to get serious he needed to win a big showdown and when it mattered the most, the cards let him down.

Brito shut down both Weissman and then Quehen with three-bets pre flop before he was facing one himself. It was Weissman who pulled it out of the bag and Brito called bringing us to a flop of {9-Hearts} {6-Clubs} {5-Diamonds}. Weissman bet 400,000 and Brito moved all-in.

"What do you have?" puzzled Weissman before folding.

So the momentum was very much with Brito when he once again three-bet pre flop. Once again it was Weissman and he moved all-in. Brito called and we had the showdown that Brito needed to cement his progress with an accumulation of serious chips.

Weissman{A-Clubs} {J-Hearts}
Brito{9-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}

The flop brought some oohs and aahs from the crown when some of them mistook the queen for a jack - {Q-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds}. The turn card was the {J-Clubs} and the crowd once again was maniacal. This time, however, Weissman remained unmoved. The river card was the {7-Diamonds} and it was over for Brito. A very sporting Weissman heading over to Brito to console him before heading to the rail for the jubilant high-fives (and the low paw for the mutt).
