Rubie Applies River Pressure

We happened upon the action on the turn with 70,000 in the pot and a board reading {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}. Brendon Rubie, who finished runner-up in Event 28: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em - Four-Handed, had just bet 17,000 only to have Fabrizio Gonzalez raise to 34,000.

Rubie thought for a long time before putting in the call, and then turned right around and bet out 80,000 on the {K-Spades} river. The bet had Gonzalez covered, meaning he'd have to call off his last 77,000 if he wanted to have a showdown. Gonzalez gave it even more thought than Rubie had on the turn, but ultimately decided to preserve his stack and wait for a different spot.
