Time For Day 2 of Event 58; Verenko in Control
Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino for continued coverage of Event 58: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better here at the 2012 World Series of Poker. Today will see Day 2 kick into full gear, with 173 players still in the running for the gold bracelet and the $330,277 first-place prize.
Starting the day with the most chips is Roman Verenko as he managed to bag up an impressive 83,100 last night. The likes of Loren Klein and Yuval Bronshtein aren't far behind Vorenko, starting the day with enough chips to scare.
Also returning to the felt today with plenty of chips are Amnon Filippi, Erick Lindgren, Scotty Nguyen and Jennifer Tilly. David "ODB" Baker, Mike Matusow and Humberto Brenes don't have as many chips as these players, but are still alive and in with a fighting chance.
Huck Seed, Dario Alioto and Allen Kessler are some of the players who will start Day 2 with a short stack, and as such will need to get busy early. Faring much better than these guys and also returning for today's action is last year's Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better champion, Nick Binger.
Of the returning players today, just 54 of them will go home with any money for their time, with the money bubble expected to burst some time in the late afternoon. From there we will play down to as close to a final table as we can get. It all begins at 2:00 PM and PokerNews will be here all day long providing you with all the live coverage.
