Hand #157: Balsiger Doubles

Level 37 : 300,000/600,000, 75,000 ante
Jake Balsiger doubles up and gives the thumbs up
Jake Balsiger doubles up and gives the thumbs up

Jesse Sylvia had the button, and opened to 1.2 million. Jake Balsiger three-bet to 3.5 million from the small blind, Greg Merson folded, and Sylvia tanked before four-betting to 7.2 million. Balsiger moved all in for 28.3 million, and Sylvia immediately called.

Sylvia: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Balsiger: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

"Jack! Jack! Jack!" Balsiger's rail chanted.

There was no jack on the flop, but the {5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop missed Sylvia. The former chip leader did have a backdoor heart draw, however.

The {10-Spades} turned, and the crowd "ohhhhhhh'ed." It too did not give Sylvia a set, however, and he was down to three cards to knock out Balsiger.

The {6-Hearts} completed the board, and Balsiger's rail went wild. The 21-year old successfully doubled, and now has just under 60 million chips.

Hand #154: Sylvia Shoves Turn Against Balsiger

Level 37 : 300,000/600,000, 75,000 ante

Jesse Sylvia had the button. He looked at his cards, then raised to 1.2 million. Jake Balsiger reraised to 3.5 million from the small blind, and Greg Merson folded from the big blind. Sylvia took his time, then called.

The flop came down {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, and Balsiger was up first. He fired 3.9 million, and Sylvia made the call to see the turn.

The {6-Clubs} paired the board on fourth street, and Balsiger bet 7.2 million after taking some time for thought. Sylvia studied, then announced that he was all in. Balsiger took another look back at his hole cards, then slowly passed them to the dealer for the fold.

"Jesse! Jesse! Jesse! Jesse!" was the explosion of chants from Sylvia's cheering section as he raked in the pot.
