Updated Chip Counts

Here's another batch of updated chip counts. David Williams has chipped up to 70,000 in chips and just got a nice boost after busting Steve Weiss from the tournament. Williams was behind going to seventh street, but was able to pull a second ace to make two pair and win the pot.

Jonathan Duhamel (Day 1)
Jonathan Duhamel (Day 1)

The 2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champion has just hit the rail. In case you need a refresher, his name is Jonathan Duhamel and he's been having a pretty amazing 2012 in poker. Unfortunately, he won't be making it any further in this one.

Brett Richey made trip kings against the Canadian and sent him to the rail short of the money.

Thompson Moves Way Up

William Thompson just won a big pot to move to 66,000 in chips and we were able to hear his celebration all the way across the room. He was involved against Jeet Shetty, Cheryl Bradley and Larry St. Jean.

Shetty: (x)(x) / {8-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{4-Spades} / (x)
Bradley: (x)(x) / {3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Clubs} / (x)
Thompson: (x)(x) / {7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} / (x)
St. Jean: (x)(x) / {8-Spades}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{7-Spades} / (x)

Shetty had completed on third street and all three of the other players called. On fourth street, Shetty's king high was the best hand showing and he bet again. All three players called.

On fifth street, Shetty bet once more and Bradley called. Thompson then raised and behind him, St. Jean called. Then Shetty reraised and Bradley called. Thompson raised again and St. Jean called. Shetty then called and Bradley called.

On sixth street, there wasn't as much action as on fifth, but there was action. Shetty and Bradley checked before Thompson bet. All three of his opponents made the call. Finally on seventh, all four of the active players in the hand checked.

Thompson rolled over the {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a ten-high straight. No one else could beat his hand and they all mucked. Thompson won the pot and moved into second place on the leader board.

Soulier vs. Verkaik

Fabrice Soulier (Day 1)
Fabrice Soulier (Day 1)

Fabrice Soulier, who won the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship last year for his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet, just picked up some chips thanks to a fold from one of the bigger stacks in the room, Nicholas Verkaik.

Soulier: (x)(x) / {Q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{A-Clubs} / (x)
Verkaik: (x)(x) / {A-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} / (x)

When we arrived at the table, Verkaik was tanking on sixth street after a bet from Soulier. He eventually made the call and then was faced with another bet from Soulier after seventh street was dealt. Verkaik gave it up this time and Soulier won the pot to climb back over 30,000 in chips. Verkaik dipped below 50,000.
