Duhamel Bests Akenhead

Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

2010 Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel opened to 12,000 from the cutoff position and was called by James Akenhead on the button. The blinds folded and the two were heads up going to the flop, which came {9-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

Duhamel c-bet for 19,500 and Akenhead asked, "How much do you have behind?"

He glanced over at Duhamel's stack for a bit and made the call.

The turn brought a {2-Spades} and this time Duhamel checked - prompting a 27,500 bet from Akenhead. Duhamel didn't take long to slide out a call.

Both players decided to check the {3-Hearts} river and Duhamel flipped over {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for a pair of kings.

Akenhead rapped the table in acknowledgement and slid his hand into the muck.

Duhamel is up to 270,000 while Akenhead has slipped to 240,000.
